Trump is now older than Biden was when he took office. Partisan politics aside, have you noticed Trump appearing to decline mentally?

Do you find that the gets confused or loses his train of thought more often than he did when he was running in 2020 or 2016?

I stopped listening to Trump actually speaking when he lost the election in 2020 and i'm just now starting to listen to him again and....he seems to be getting confused and losing his train of thought a lot more.
I know he's still got the same personality and rhetorical style but he seems to stumble a lot more.

Trump supporters, what do you think?
Is 2024 Trump starting to lose his grip or do you think she's just as sharp as he was in 2016?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Let's be honest; they've both declined mentally. Trump has lost an edge since 2016 and Biden is a shadow of his 2008 version.

It's understandable that his happens to men doing high stress jobs a decade past normal retirement age.

Given the amount of talent in America, it's quite absurd that either of these two men should be put forward to lead the country. One comic said that it was like picking between a drunk driver and someone asleep at the wheel. Everyone reading this will know which is which and that says it all.

@Pikachu its an open border. Peoplevare not jailed or sent back of caught sneaking in
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero I'm not sure it's necessarily a decline in people holding office. It probably feels like that to you because the old centre ground doesn't hold.

The age thing is distinctly American. In no other major democracy are so many major politicians so old. Peak age for a politician is normally 40-60, not 60-85. I have no idea why this has happened in America.
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Ok so you can't explain the border policy, you just insist that it's open.
I suggest you take a little time to do some research and come back to me with a more detailed understanding of that which you are criticizing.

Don't mistake rhetoric for data.
he Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed a higher percentage of arrested border crossers in its first two years than the Trump DHS did over its last two years.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported more than 142,000 immigrants in fiscal year 2023, nearly double the number from the year before, as the Biden administration ramped up enforcement to stem illegal border crossings, according to the agency's annual report, published Friday.
Trump has always been a delusional twat.
Pikachu ·
@zonavar68

Can't argue with that lol
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@zonavar68 If that was all, it might not even be that bad. But he and his family have been grifters from the word go. How much did he inherit, then lose from his father. Was he a good businessman, if so, how many times did he declare bankruptcy? Did he lie on his taxes and on applications for bank loans, well the court found him guilty, did he rape a woman, not just grab them by their genitals, well the court said he did...
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Trump was never a great brain, but, yes, he appears to become more confused and erratic every passing year.
Pikachu ·
@ChipmunkErnie

He was always a bit of a pea-brained school yard bully with a talent for manipulation...but yeah, he seems to be losing his grip.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
He is still much sharper than Biden was in 2020, much sharper.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@Pikachu yes he uses words, the very best words.
Pikachu ·
@Subsumedpat

lol if only he could use the right words, amiright?😆
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Subsumedpat better get back on your medication!
Honestly I think the world at large has a serious problem when most world leaders are closer to being 100 years old than they are to the age of some the largest demographics in the country they supposedly represent.

So there is the part about being further out of touch than just what is an issue from class alone.

Plus when your representative government can be mistaken for an old folks home that is also an issue for merely practical reasons.

Yet we are still told electing "elder statesmen" is the responsible thing to do.

I don't see how people don't see an issue with the government being on average older than the age of mandatory retirement for civil servants and in some cases by decades.
@samueltyler2 My point is to be PM or President should be open to anyone of age to vote or serve as a minister. It is the only way I see that we won't end up with the world being run by people in their 80s.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So you favor waiving the current age requirements altogether? Should a 16 year old be allowed to run for congress, Seante, president?
@samueltyler2 Yes. Canada has no such restrictions and we are one of the few countries that doesn't have a head of state in their 80s.

Hell it has come out that California that has approximately the same population as all of Canada was being represented by a woman who has dementia.
walabby · 61-69, M
The founding fathers put a minimum age to be president in the constitution. It's painfully obvious that they should have included a maximum age also. 75 at inauguration would be not unreasonable?
@samueltyler2 Well, we DID finally ratify one of the originally-proposed amendments not long ago...
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SomeMichGuy really?

https://equalitynow.org/era_explainer/?gad_source=1 the amaendment is in limbo because of the orihginal wording

the last voting rights amendment was the 15th, that gave the right to vote to African Americans, no amendment or legislation to affirm the right to vote, to protect the rights of all, has been proposed, but not even voted upon!
@samueltyler2

The last amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the 27th, was proposed on September 25, 1789 as part of the original proposed set of amendments put forth to satisfy the call for a bill of rights. Only ten of those were ratified at the time.

This amendment--having no specified end-date for ratification--was finally ratified on May 7, 1992, making it by far the amendment with the greatest interval between proposal and ratification (202 years, 223 days, per the Wikipedia article).

See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amendments_to_the_Constitution_of_the_United_States

The ERA failed, due to time limits imposed by Congress. This seems to be a closed legal question (Ibid). This fate also happened to another amendment.

I actually suspect his most recent “stumble” was on purpose. After all, so what if Nikki Haley wasn’t actually in charge of security of the Capitol on January 6, 2021? She’s part of the swamp. She’s the same kind of politician as Pelosi and the Democrats or McConnell and the Rino’s, isn’t she? If she had been there she would have done the same thing as them.

Also, voters don’t have a problem with the concept of an eighty-something year-old president. They think Biden is incompetent, due mostly to things like the wars and inflation that are beyond his control and that have even actually been mitigated by his policies, and they attribute his perceived incompetence to his age because he kind of looks and sounds frail.
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu NO I'm not troubled... He made the country stronger and now would have to repair the damage done by Biden to bring the US back to the top instead of a laughing stock
Pikachu ·
@braveheart21

Laughing stock...you remember when the world literally laughed in Trump's face when he spoke at the UN?

But if you're not troubled by the prospect of being ruled by a man who is not only losing his mental faculties but has already attempted by force to take control of the country....there's nothing i can say.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@braveheart21 Stronger? How do you define that one? On the contrary, he endorsed dictators, tried to cancel our treaties with other countries. What did he do to make us stronger?
TrashCat · M
I did watch a video of him sweating profusely with trembling hands in New Hampshire. To be fair, the New Hampshire tropical weather is brutal.
Pikachu ·
@TrashCat

He's nearly 80, body ad mind are breaking down.
TrashCat · M
@Pikachu Trump is decrepit. Biden is slowing down from age and the dearh of his son took a toll. Trump is elderly, obese, and showing signs of senile dementia
Trump was clearly mentally ill when he started running back in 2016. His condition has gotten worse, but it's not always noticeable. He takes a lot of adderall, so while he's slowed down, it usually doesn't show.
Pikachu ·
@BohemianBoo

Interesting.
Is that fact or speculation?
@Pikachu It's kinda like one of those open secrets in New York. So many people who met or partied with Trump mentioned how he would crush up and snort adderall. It's kinda like how we can't prove Bill Cosby is a serial rapist, but there sure are a lot of women who claim he is.
Pikachu ·
@BohemianBoo

Well doesn't surprise me lol
familyfunguy · 56-60, M
Trump is a she? Well anyways, I thought I'd post this from 1988. You guys might have already seen or heard it, but he spoke pretty fluidly and coherently at the time.

Is it hard to imagine him speaking like that now?
Pikachu ·
@familyfunguy

lol oh that is weird. You can really tell that he's an old man now.
He fucks up words or loses his train of thought and then adlibs. He thinks he's a comedian
Pikachu ·
@Pitchblue

He thinks a lot of things about himself. Narcissists are like that lol
@Pikachu The xpresident fumbling around on stage to make fun of the President in Office. And then he explained the joke.

He was already confused when he was in office.

Pikachu ·
@beckyromero

lol i forgot about the airports thing.
And then Joe Rogen mocked Biden for saying that when he was in fact just slamming Trump for having said it.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Remember when Obama first went into office. He was youthful, energetic and vibrant. Did you see him at the end of his stint. He looked like Joe Biden.
The job is very demanding. And too much for anyone past retirement age.
Pikachu ·
@Thevy29

Yeah it's for sure a demanding job. Although maybe Trump was spared some of the stress by spending a lot of it either on twitter or the golf course lol
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
We don't have much of a choice, but Trump is the stronger candidate for sure considering the condition of the country today and the downhill spiral it's on.
Pikachu ·
@Midlifemale

See...i keep hearing folks on the right say that but then people on the left point out that the economy is stronger than it was under Trump, there are more jobs than there were under Trump...where's the spiral?
walabby · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Even Fox News has recently admitted that the US economy is currently doing well... XD
Pikachu ·
@walabby

It's hard to deny reality lol
Bumbles · 51-55, M
We can stop this car anytime before it goes over the cliff…but nooooo!
Pikachu ·
@Bumbles Car should have been pulled over lol
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
He is mentally alert
Pikachu ·
@Patriot96

But do you think he's declining? Do you think he's as mentally alert as he was even 4 years ago?
That's not the impression i've been getting.

If you've been listening to him all along maybe the decline is less noticeable because you've seen it in stages.
As someone who didn't listen to him speak for a few years and is now hearing him again...the difference is striking.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I would say the signs were there in 2020. Definitely doesn't have the energy of 2016
