Trump is now older than Biden was when he took office. Partisan politics aside, have you noticed Trump appearing to decline mentally?

Do you find that the gets confused or loses his train of thought more often than he did when he was running in 2020 or 2016?

I stopped listening to Trump actually speaking when he lost the election in 2020 and i'm just now starting to listen to him again and....he seems to be getting confused and losing his train of thought a lot more.
I know he's still got the same personality and rhetorical style but he seems to stumble a lot more.

Trump supporters, what do you think?
Is 2024 Trump starting to lose his grip or do you think she's just as sharp as he was in 2016?

Let's be honest; they've both declined mentally. Trump has lost an edge since 2016 and Biden is a shadow of his 2008 version.

It's understandable that his happens to men doing high stress jobs a decade past normal retirement age.

Given the amount of talent in America, it's quite absurd that either of these two men should be put forward to lead the country. One comic said that it was like picking between a drunk driver and someone asleep at the wheel. Everyone reading this will know which is which and that says it all.

lol so true.
Yeah it's for sure a shame that these are the option between which Americans will likely have to decide.
I wonder though if Biden is re-elected whether he will step aside after a bit in favour of his VP.

@Pikachu thats a good reason to favor trump

Given the amount of talent in America...

Politics isn't like that reality show, "America's Got Talent."

And I don't think I'm the only one who has seen a decline in the quality of the people who hold elective office as compared to 20, 30 or 40 years ago.

Where is a John McCain, Bob Dole or even a Trent Lott?

Where is a Ted Kennedy, Mario Cuomo or even a Paul Wellstone?

Instead, we have people like Ted Cruz, John Hawley and Mitch McConnell. Lizzy Warren, Gavin Newsom and Bernie Sanders.

thats a good reason to favor trump

What reason is that?
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu the thought of having the current vp take over
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Specifically what would be worse about that than a convicted sex offender who tried to halt the peaceful transition of power from a democratic election?
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu she does not have the ability to run this country.
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Well that's not a specific criticism, is it? It's a vague claim of no confidence...
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu do you think world powers or congress will accept her? She was just a tool to help win the election
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

World powers literally laughed at Trump when he spoke at the UN....
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu thete are alot of good people to lead our country, but if we voted for them our vote would be wasted. Sooooo, you have to pick the bext choice thats viable, and its not boden
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

You're entitled to your opinion...but what is your answer to the original question?
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu id have to say yes, but our current leader cant even read cue cards
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Between the two, who do you think is more likely to let people of sound mind help guide their administration?
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu i follow parties. The conservatives are better for our country
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

It sounds like you understand that Trump is a poor candidate but you're determined to vote on party lines no matter how dangerous the person you vote in may be.
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu the options are more dangerous
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Specifically how so?
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu no borders, pushing evs, giving free money to everyone
Pikachu ·
@AnnSteve

Explain in your own words the border policy of the Biden administration.
AnnSteve · C
@Pikachu its an open border. Peoplevare not jailed or sent back of caught sneaking in
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero I'm not sure it's necessarily a decline in people holding office. It probably feels like that to you because the old centre ground doesn't hold.

The age thing is distinctly American. In no other major democracy are so many major politicians so old. Peak age for a politician is normally 40-60, not 60-85. I have no idea why this has happened in America.

@AnnSteve

Ok so you can't explain the border policy, you just insist that it's open.
I suggest you take a little time to do some research and come back to me with a more detailed understanding of that which you are criticizing.

Don't mistake rhetoric for data.

he Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed a higher percentage of arrested border crossers in its first two years than the Trump DHS did over its last two years.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported more than 142,000 immigrants in fiscal year 2023, nearly double the number from the year before, as the Biden administration ramped up enforcement to stem illegal border crossings, according to the agency's annual report, published Friday.
