Honestly I think the world at large has a serious problem when most world leaders are closer to being 100 years old than they are to the age of some the largest demographics in the country they supposedly represent.
So there is the part about being further out of touch than just what is an issue from class alone.
Plus when your representative government can be mistaken for an old folks home that is also an issue for merely practical reasons.
Yet we are still told electing "elder statesmen" is the responsible thing to do.
I don't see how people don't see an issue with the government being on average older than the age of mandatory retirement for civil servants and in some cases by decades.

Agreed.
Obviously a certain amount of life and political experience is necessary...but it appears to be getting out of hand.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The country needs younger people to want to be politicians, but the deck is stacked against that. Who in either party would be a good candidate?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@samueltyler2 Part of it is some countries like the US have a minimum age requirement which is in many cases a decade or more over the requirement for any other position in government.
Stack on top of that the unofficial "paying your dues" within the party and you have a bunch of seniors.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow what point are you trying to make?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@samueltyler2 My point is to be PM or President should be open to anyone of age to vote or serve as a minister. It is the only way I see that we won't end up with the world being run by people in their 80s.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So you favor waiving the current age requirements altogether? Should a 16 year old be allowed to run for congress, Seante, president?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@samueltyler2 Yes. Canada has no such restrictions and we are one of the few countries that doesn't have a head of state in their 80s.
Hell it has come out that California that has approximately the same population as all of Canada was being represented by a woman who has dementia.
