Democrats Just Hired 87,000 More IRS Employees to Harass, Attack Americans

Democrats Just Hired 87,000 More IRS Employees to Harass, Attack Americans — Here’s a List of the Conservative Groups the Obama IRS Targeted in 2012

On March 26, 2014, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform. Koskinen told Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) during the hearing that Lois Lerner’s emails were archived and it would take a long time to retrieve them.

In June 2014 the IRS told Congress Lois Lerner’s emails were lost in a computer crash.

Lois Lerner was head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, which oversaw applications for tax-exempt status, including those from political groups. Lerner, a committed leftist, was at the center of Obama’s IRS targeting scandal.

Thousands of emails were later recovered by an Inspector General that were not previously produced for Congress.
The IRS leadership was targeting conservatives and lying about it to Congress.

The emails confirmed Lerner funneled information on conservative groups to at least one Democratic lawmaker.

Documents released in July 2016 revealed the IRS knew of Tea Party targeting since 2011.

The IRS released a list in 2016 of 426 Tea Party and conservative groups that were targeted during the Obama years.

The IRS Conservative Targeting Scandal included:

Hundreds of conservative groups were targeted
At least 5 pro-Israel groups
Constitutional groups
Groups that criticized Obama administration
At least two pro-life groups
An 83 year-old Nazi concentration camp survivor
A 180 year-old Baptist paper
A Texas voting-rights group
A Hollywood conservative group was targeted and harassed
Conservative activists and businesses
At least one conservative Hispanic group
IRS continued to target groups even after the scandal was exposed
10% of Tea Party donors were audited by the IRS
And… 100% of the 501(c)(4) Groups Audited by IRS Were Conservative

In 2017 Judicial Watch released 695 pages of documents from the IRS that contained admissions by IRS officials that the agency used “inappropriate political labels” to screen the tax-exempt applications of conservative organizations.

They were targeting conservatives. It was on purpose. And they admitted it in writing.

Even Dr. Ben Carson was caught up in the IRS targeting scandal.

When the Democrats promise that the IRS will not target the middle class or will not target conservatives — DON’T BELIEVE THEM!

Just ask the Trump supporters sitting in prison today without trial for standing outside the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

They should have hired 87,000 more border patrol agents. It’s a disaster there. I know people working there. It’s dangerous and completely unorganized and more illegal crossings under this admin than ever!
Bill1372 · 51-55, M
@CorvusBlackthorne There’s a process to enter and if it’s not followed, they shouldn’t be allowed in… Certainly not embraced!
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@CorvusBlackthorne That was before we had massive government funded social safety nets. People now come to this country to sponge.

@irishmolly72 when people want both open borders and a deep pocket welfare state, it tells you where their mental maturity levels are at.
The IRS is corrupt, and many of its employees are incompetent. So the plan is to double the size of this mess. They've just shoved a tax hike through labelled as inflation relief. I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to think any of this is a good idea.
@badminton classic broken record..."ohhh billionaires and corporations don't pay their fair share."

You could confiscate the wealth of all the billionaires in the US, and still not make a dent in the national debt. How many billionaires do you think there are in the US? LOL.

The corporation argument is the dumbest of all. It shows a complete lack of both business and economic sense. What do corporations do when you raise their taxes? They raise the price of goods and services and pass them on to consumers. Or they cut wages, laying people off from jobs, increasing unemployment and taking tax payers out of the labor pool. Or they move operations to areas with lower taxes.

Polly Wants a Tax Cracker:
The wealthy already pay the lion's share of taxes. Per the IRS: in 2018, the top 1 percent of taxpayers paid $616 billion in income taxes. That amounts to 40 percent of all income taxes paid, the highest share since 1980, and a larger share of the tax burden than is borne by the bottom 90 percent of taxpayers combined (who represent about 130 million taxpayers). Again...you're spewing the same leftist sewage I've been hearing for the last 40+ years.

Congress just passed a tax hike. It will impact everyone making $30K or more including corporations. Something Biden said he wouldn't do. Did you read his lips? Passed it as the inflation reduction act or some typical bullshit name, where the exact opposite happens. How stupid is it to raise taxes during high inflation and during a recession the WH claims we aren't in? Extremely stupid. You'd only do it if you were intentionally trying to do further damage to the economy.

Oh...but orange man is bad. 🙄
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@irishmolly72 Huge parts of the income and assets of billionaires and corporations are declared non-taxable income. they hide a large part of the their income in off-shore tax havens. Also, they have received huge tax cuts, under Trump in 2017 and under Reagan in the 1980's. In fact the very wealthy pay a much lower tax rate than the rest of us.

https://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0512/how-large-corporations-get-around-paying-less-in-taxes.aspx

"It is not uncommon for large U.S. corporations to pay no U.S. income taxes despite making billions of dollars in profits. In fact, 55 of America's largest companies paid no income taxes over the three-year period from 2018-2020, all while generating hefty profits. Many even received tax rebates adding up to hundreds of millions of dollars.

"How do profitable corporations get away with paying no taxes? The most common ways are accelerated depreciation, offshoring of profits, stock options, and tax credits."

@badminton "How do profitable corporations get away with paying no taxes? The most common ways are accelerated depreciation, offshoring of profits, stock options, and tax credits."

What is the purpose of accelerated depreciation? To encourage corporations to make capital expenditures more frequently. The net effect is to continue modernizing their facilities more frequently. This is good for the economy as a whole...it boosts GDP, promtes new business growth leading to more jobs and larger tax base. Something any 2nd year accounting student could tell you. But orange man bad.

Offshoring of profits? Duh...corporations move offshore to shelter themselves from higher tax rates. What do you expect? The US has historically had the highest corporate tax rates in the world. Trump cut those rates, and many of those companies came back. Raise the rates, they will move. If you stick your finger in a light socket, get shocked...are you going to continue sticking your finger in there?

Stock options are an employee incentive. How does this save corporations tax dollars?

Tax credits do lower taxes. How do tax credits come about? Congress passes legislation. Sooo...the $64K question...with majorities in the House, and ultimately the Senate (Kamala is the tie breaker)...why aren't they cutting tax credits?

Will the IRS notice all the fraud in the BLM movement? Seems it would be a fertile place to look for tax cheats too.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Bill1372 Sadder still, how many black men were gunned down in the street because he advocated for defunding the police?
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@irishmolly72 The laws must apply equally to all. If investigation shows BLM is doing something illegal then they must face the legal penalties.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@badminton But that won't happen if they are not all investigated.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
I think they're trying to undo the actions of the Trump administration where he gutted the IRS and his wealthy business buddies were able to escape paying their fair share, which lead to a 2 TRILLION dollar shortfall in revenue.

Not saying we need 87,000 more auditors, but we definitely need something more effective than what we've been having
Budwick · 70-79, M
@TinyViolins
Getting these IRS auditors to follow the paper trails and accurately audit the mega-wealthy will go a long way towards making society fairer for all of us
And, you say that because of the success they've had so far?

The options must be pay offs and more corruption. Cuz they're not making any advances.
This bill is simply to punish targets of the left - period.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@Budwick Republicans in Congress have been gutting the IRS since at least 2010, which not coincidentally tracks with an increasing share of wealth for the 1%.

When you cut police funding, you would expect an increase in crime. When you cut IRS funding, we've been seeing an increase in tax evasion and wealth hoarding. If you've ever worked in a place that's been short-staffed, you know how hard it is to get stuff done properly.

I know the IRS isn't perfect and bureaucracy is full of unnecessary bloat, but when the consequences are as damaging as they have been, something needs to be done. I'm hoping this is only a stop-gap solution until there are better tax laws and systems of compliance
@easterniowegin
democrats never met a tax they didn't like.
That is simply not true. What is true, however, is that Republicans never met a wealthy billionaire for whom they did not wish to offer a tax cut. That is why it is no longer possible to support a family of four on a single minimum wage income. Poor Americans are obliged to pick up the slack from wealthy elites such as Jeff Bezos who pay no income taxes whatsoever.

@Budwick
This bill is simply to punish targets of the left - period.
I should like to see some evidence of that claim. However, knowing the source, I will not hold my breath.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
The U.S. now has a military budget of $800 BILLION per year. How are we going to pay for that if we don't collect taxes.

I think billionaires should be required to do their patriotic duty and pay their taxes, not seek to evade taxes. Therefore, off-shore tax havens should be made illegal.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl You really think corporations pay taxes? Amazing
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@badminton The real cure is a balanced budget amendment, a radically smaller federal government and term limits .
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl all they need to do is change the tax law!
Here ya go - you can fire everyone at the IRS and fit the entire tax code on an index card.
Make a consumption tax.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
And half of them will be going after the little guy making less then 75k a year .
@AthrillatheHunt What can one expect, when the Republican Party consistently cuts taxes for the wealthy elites?
@AthrillatheHunt Yeah, hire a massive number of “ agents” who have to either have a good background in taxes/tax law or who need to be trained as new arrivals. I see a slew of lawsuits as these people will bungle things for sure and wind up in court.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@CorvusBlackthorne yea it’s totally the republicans who weaponized the IRS. Lol
Never forget…Lois Lerner under the messiah.
graphite · 61-69, M
@soar2newhighs She took the 5th amendment because she knew the Democrats' DoJ wasn't going to prosecute one of their own.

"WASHINGTON—Federal prosecutors won't seek to prosecute former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner on contempt of Congress charges, concluding she did nothing wrong in refusing to testify before a House committee looking into alleged IRS targeting of conservative nonprofit groups.

The U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday, notifying lawmakers that it wouldn't present the case to a grand jury."
Meanwhile, Steve Bannon has already been tried and convicted for the same thing. DoJ works for the Democrat Party. Yes, it was Sessions' DoJ but Sessions genuflected before his Democrat Party masters every time. Worst hiring decision Trump ever made.
@graphite They hope and pray Trump doesn’t come back as President.
graphite · 61-69, M
@soar2newhighs Trump underestimated the depth and power of The Swamp. He should have fired everyone, from top to bottom.
graphite · 61-69, M
Obama's major "accomplishment" was taking supposedly public service agencies, from the FBI to the DoJ to the CIA and IRS, and turning them into weapons of the Democrat Party.
4meAndyou · F
Let us consider the source of a really good percentage of Trump's funding in 2020...it was small donations, provided by the lower middle class, AND the middle class. He had far fewer high end donors than the corrupt Democrat Socialist, Hillary Clinton.

In 2024, the reigning, (and I do mean reigning), Democrat Socialists want to ensure that Trump's base are broke, and/or under IRS investigation.

The ONLY way Trump can be defeated again is by moves like this one. AND by massive cheating.
Iwillwait · M
The middle class will be the glut of the Audits, and fines.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Iwillwait for sure. And anyone w a venmo account will be audited first .
The Democrats have a new slogan…“show me the money!”
@badminton LOL. Read the post above.
Lois Lerner's emails.

More importantly, what proof do you have that we need more agents?

The whole idea is completely moronic. No wonder you support it.
It is almost as if Americans are doing their best to cheat the system, and more enforcement is necessary to prevent such an occurrence.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@CorvusBlackthorne Again - change the tax code.
Simple.
Lion1776 · 51-55, M
Maybe if Americans paid there taxes and stopped trying to cheat on their taxes, those agents wouldn't be needed
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@CorvusBlackthorne both sides gorge themselves from the same pig trough. If there’s ONE thing both sides can agree on it’s to keep the spice flowing (threw in a dune reference there. Lol).
Budwick · 70-79, M
@AthrillatheHunt @CorvusBlackthorne
Hey you two - no conspiring on this thread.
Get this straight - here you are the enemy.
You are allowed here - because of my magnificent compassion for the mentally challenged.
Be good BOYS or you will be deleted.

Thank you.
@Budwick So says the free speech absolutist...
Two figures of note with relation to taxes in this country: Charlie Rangel and Timothy Geitner … slight tax problems they had, yet one wrote tax laws, the other headed the Treasury.
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
Given the highly unpatriotic Republican activities of late I can see a need to curb their illicit transactions with their terrorist allies.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Carissimi · 70-79, F
To go after the working class, not the wealthy who fund the crooks in Washington DC. They’ll audit anyone who doesn’t agree with the narrative.
gol979 · 41-45, M
Well lets see if the not so different republicans remove them when its their turn.....not a chance
Budwick · 70-79, M
@gol979
lets see if the not so different republicans remove them when its their turn
The dems are busy making up charges to arrest republicans so they can't run.
Are the American taxpayers funding this? When does it stop?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@CestManan the Buddhists call it “stupid compassion “ . We call it altruism.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@AthrillatheHunt I had to look up altruism and it looks to me like it means basically parasitism except for someone just volunteers themselves to a parasite
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@CestManan pretty much. Lol
With respect, sir, why would they need to do that? Conservatives embarrass themselves on a regular basis.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@CorvusBlackthorne It's not about embarrassment. It's about control.
@Budwick I apologize. I missed a key word in your original posting.
Money talks and bullshit ( politicians and their friends who have what they need and want…$$$) walks. Thousands of agents won’t change these people… 740 Park Ave.
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔...............I had a great Uncle that worked for the IRS and his son hated him for that.........I don't think they spoke too often..........
AMelancholyHaunting · 41-45, M
And now paying your taxes is oppression?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@AMelancholyHaunting "Biden could owe as much as $500K in back taxes, government report indicates"

Would not want to opress sippy-cup now, would we?
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Bet they have a big FBI hire next!!! Time to dust off my resume...
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I see trouble ahead for venmo accounts. Lol
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
You can bet theyre not going after the 1%

Got anything to hide? 🧐

@Dino11
Got anything to hide?
No, and I don't have any money to pay for a lawyer to represent me in an audit either.
