Whites make up 72% of the population. Add the non-white numbers up and you will see that non-whites are killed at a much higher rate against their population.

To be fair, the conversation is much broader than simply shooting deaths. Neither Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, or George Floyd were shot to death, nor was Jacob Blake

Cool. You can add violent crime statistics broken down by race and compare that to the percentage of each race as to population. Logically, with whites making up an overwhelming percent of the population, then whites must be committing an overwhelming percent of the violence in America. I already know the answer, I did the math. Anyone who is curious can easily research it. Google is a good start. America has serious problems

Overall, I think it would be MORE helpful to instruct criminals, drug users, and dodgy characters of ALL races who think they MIGHT run into the police at some point in their lives, to stop taking lethal levels of drugs, and to NOT resist at all...not even one bit...when they are apprehended whether on suspicion or otherwise. I think the police need to have a commercial on television instructing everyone on how to behave when apprehended so they won't put their lives at risk.
I think, also, that when the police confront breathing difficulties or general mental health issues, they don't currently have correct responses to those who have a combination of drug and/or mental health issues. I think an ambulance needs to be called far more often. Ambulance workers know how to check vital signs and administer oxygen if need be, and can determine more quickly if the apprehended person is at risk of death.
@SW-User You are confusing crimes committed with crimes reported. If you over police a white neighborhood, you are going to find more crime. They actually scale for this in crime stats. But cling to raw numbers with no context.

I wasn't sure what it is you were trying to prove with this? Stats and figs on their own are meanigless often.. here we see that the majority of people shot are not white.. as in the totals added up show more non-whites than whites are shot.. We would need to know too, the proportions.. needless to say there are more whites in America... they are the majority.. so proportionately, how many whites are shot compared to how many non-white per proportional percentage. e.g. if whites make up 90% of the population.. and 5% of whites are shot... that would give us one figure.. if we then compare.. say the non-white population is say 20% but proportionally these make up 70% of those shot by police that would tell us there's a big problem! PS these numbers are just for illustration

Bleating on about media coverage does NOT change the facts.. a disproportional amount of non-whites, and black people are shot by police... and you should know too that for every one of those MAJORITY of non-whites that were shot by the police.. almost none of them got media coverage either

@SW-User It has very little to do with crime. In fact, that's the whole point of what you see outside your window right now. Black people are accosted, arrested and victims of violence at the hands of the police when there are no crimes at all.

Which narrative are these facts supposed to go against? The fact that 13% of the population demographic represents almost 20% of people shot to death by police this year and 23% in 2019? When looked at in context of what percentage of society those numbers represent it is a little bit skewed in favor of the BLM narrative. However, when looked at from the point of view that 13% of the U.S. population is responsible for 50% of homicides then I find that I'm far more surprised more people of color are not shot to death by police. Grateful that is not the case. But surprised that the statistics are so skewed.
What you are not looking at is people who have actually died while in police custody and not just been shot by police. Black men are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a white man. Killed, not just shot. This includes police abuse while an individual is in custody regardless of the establishment of their guilt or innocence. Even then, we don't have the full numbers. That "unknown" category likely includes men of color who are too mixed to determine what race they are since if they had appeared to be "White" they would likely have been listed as white. Also, the death in custody reports that law enforcement is supposed to be providing, haven't been completed once since the legislation was passed requiring it.
On the other hand, whites represent 76% of the U.S. population, commit almost 47% of homicides and only represent 36.8% of police shootings last year. That is definitely skewed in favor of whites. It shows a statistical bias that because blacks are proportionally more likely to be involved with homicides police are more likely to shoot them than they are to shoot non-blacks. Black are 5.6 times more likely in 2019 to be shot by police than whites is what these statistics say.

@vetguy1991 Numbers lie all the time when it comes to statistics. On average, everyone on earth has one testicle and one ovary. Statistically speaking, people are more likely to be killed by a vending machine than a shark. A famous statistic I really like is that 77% of car accidents happen within 15 miles of where a person lives. Like, how often do people really drive more than 15 miles from their home?
