These facilities were built, by the Obama administration, to TEMPORARILY (max of 72 hours) house unaccompanied children, during a period when we had s spike in unaccompanied children crossings, to PROTECT them from predators and locate their families.
The Trump administration, used them to indefinitely hold children, THEY separated from their parents, because they're tough guys, and think this inhumane treatment will deter future wanna be illegal immigrants.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout it's funny how so many people try to divert from a current issue by bring up someone else & past issues. They may, or may not be true but how do you think this diverts from the current issue. It does not constructively add to the debate. Just smoke & mirrors to avoid the issue.

I'm not on any political side. Prison sentences for many are rediculous. It doesn't let people out, it shortens their terms in certain cases. Most women in prison are there because of a man. We are paying for people who are harming themselves. It makes no sense to give people with minor, first time, drug offences 20 years just because their charge was made federal for crossing state lines. You can't treat all people the same or make it about money for private prisons. I'm not talking about what Trump does. Making the prison issue a political one is sad.
@MySecretIdentity1 Unfortunately, it is both a political and economical issue, because generally speaking, people with money can buy lighter sentences and often, freedom. Bail is the clearest example of that. After arrest, money makes the difference whether or not one gets to continue with their lives vs. languishing in prison until they’re even tried.
@bijouxbroussard I think things need to move to an ankle monitor for non-violent first time offenders. There are programs where the monitor gets transferred to your place of employment and then you come home.
The children were with family, fleeing 'shit hole countries' for their lives because they were 'shit hole countries' but they must have been 'human traffickers' like Jeffery Epstein who loved beautiful women like Trump. Something they both had in common.
