This is a false equivalency. The "cages", are detention facilities, separated by chain link fences. They were used during previous administrations. The false equivalency, is that during previous administrations, these facilities were used temporarily, for the protection of unaccompanied children, from sexual, and other, predators while families/relatives were located and the children were sent to live with them.

That was the right, humane, and decent thing to do.

The Trump administration, purposely, separated and jailed children, at times putting parents and children in different states, to intimidate illegal immigrants.

What the Trump administration does, is a cruel, and inhumane punishment, perpetrated on innocent kids.

These facilities were built, by the Obama administration, to TEMPORARILY (max of 72 hours) house unaccompanied children, during a period when we had s spike in unaccompanied children crossings, to PROTECT them from predators and locate their families.

The Trump administration, used them to indefinitely hold children, THEY separated from their parents, because they're tough guys, and think this inhumane treatment will deter future wanna be illegal immigrants.
