I met a friend in 1979 and we are still staying in touch and visit as often as possible. Like a twin flame.

My longest and best friend is from 1st grade. She is amazing. Never divorced, she loves her husband they have the same 2 houses and a boat for the last 40 years. They are very stable people. I love my cousins too, we were ice skating and playing together in childhood and we still visit each other. She also has a good marriage with the a house since marriage.
The key to good friendships is give more than you receive, tell them you want to be friends, appreciate them, tell them you love them, thank them for being your friend, reach out often, and forgive 70x7.

Tough subject for me. I'm dealing with a friend of 45 years ghosting me out of nowhere. Totally blindsided by the circumstances too. His adopted daughter died last spring and I was there for him. I made it clear we'd talk more than ever to help keep his mind off it

At the time there was no cause of death but I'm certain it was a scandal. She was an addict

Since that conversation he's cut off all communication with me. This right after I was there for him promising I'd do what I could

It's obvious he's gone off the deep end from this but I feel totally shit on. He knows all the people I've had die recently and how important those still with us mean to me. To disappear, after no confrontation, is wrong and fucked up.

Sometimes intense circumstances really reveal people's character
My best friend. We met when I was barely out of college and she’d just finished art school, 45 years ago. Another friend, whom I spoke to this week, was someone I met at work in 1988. And my best guy friend, and his wife, are two friends I met in 1999.
My brother-in-law John (Jan) - until he passed. Not once did he ever have to be right about anything. He was as calm, relaxed and decent a man as I have ever known.

20+ years. There are guys I joined the RAF with in the late 90s, who live at opposite ends of the country to me, and time can pass but whenever meet up we go back to being 19 year old J/Ts in an instant.
during school i had many freinds. Ofcourse after highscool i lost touch with every single one. The longest freinship into adult hood didnt last more than a week.. im too exhausted for that now and it can make me sick hanging with someone new as my immune system can no longer adapt to change from how long i can go without even being close to anyone ill get sick easier
I have one friend from over 30 years ago that I still talk to and have lunch with occasionally.
I guess... it's sorta still going on. became friends in the mid to late 90s. it's a 'srota' cuz he kinda can't live on his own anymore after medical issues. it's a weird place to be cuz it's almost like he's trying to pretend and remember who he is rather than just be himself. which sounds just slightly less weird than it is. so about 30 some years. probably closer to 30 with his change
