Was only a matter of time before Trump began throwing supporters under the bus

Trump released Bannon from the privilege in a Saturday letter to Costello, saying: "If you reach an agreement on a time and place for your testimony, I will waive executive privilege for you, which will allow for you to in and testify truthfully and fairly as per the request of the Unselect Committee of political Thugs and Hacks."

Although I wouldn't expect the answer to any relevant question to be other than "The Fifth". But it will get him Steve Bannon out from under the Contempt of Congress charges and an opportunity to repeat the Holy Grail in an opening statement. Was pretty hard for him to claim executive privilege when the White House Counsel managed to find a way to answer the subpoena while honoring both executive privilege and lawyer-client privilege.
Derp. He gave permission for Steve to testify..
Please. In your warped TDS infected brain explain how this is throwing Steve under a bus?

@MasterLee you are more of an idiot than I thought!
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 that makes you moron of the year.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MasterLee good try.
PatKirby · M
An awesome nothing burger, but glad he's still living rent-free in heads wilfully stuck in the sand. Have no fear, the coming Red Wave is near, but not too late to do the Right thing before you get Left behind.

Wol62 · 51-55, M
@PatKirby But the Libertarians said that Trump was a socialist, so go figure.
This is planned by Bannon. No more Contempt charge. Trump thinks Bannon can outsmart the committee. Maybe give honest answers behind the scenes and then when on TV live claim the committee spliced the answers they wanted together. Bannon can lie his ass off and the GQP base will believe every word. Then expect to never see any consequences when the Republicans have Congress, Senate and a Republican Supreme Court.
Whatever the Con is it's all about Bannon. Bannon is 100 times smarter than Trump is. It was Bannon who came up with America First and it was Bannon who tapped into the White Supremacist Groups.
@samueltyler2 Right. Garland looks so weak. Hopefully some indictments come before November.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Pitchblue He may appear weak, he is aware of the place he will be held in history, he is in a bad situation!
Ynotisay · M
@Pitchblue I doubt they'll ask him many questions in a hearing that they don't already know the answers to. He lies and I would imagine they'd call him out immediately. And that's a crime.
And how is this throwing Bannon under the bus? The J6 unselect committee's narrative is falling apart. And they just exposed themselves as a huge joke falling for a plant, Cassidy Hutchinson, and let her testify to a completely fabricated story, only a fool would believe.
This really does seem like a hail Mary attempt to let Bannon try and put a better face on things, but it doesnt seem likely to work.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Pikachu

Not nearly as worked up as you, Piksiekins... 😂 😂 😂

@MistyCee Bannon still faces prosecution for contempt of Congress. And he's not going to be allowed to testify in public unless he testifies behind closed doors first and they get him on tape. These hearings aren't a spectacle for him to boost his podcast.
@LeopoldBloom Let's hope. So far the Committee's made pretty good decisions.

Shame you don't have an actual life. No surprise though. I heard that TDS is tough to deal with once it's infected your very soul like it has with you.

Here's an idea. Go fill your car with fuel, then buy groceries. That should make you feel wonderful.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Baremine And just like this gent, liberals don’t seem to care in the least.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@carpediem
He (Biden) was handed a robust economy recovering from the pandemic. Very low inflation, energy independence, controlled southern border. He ruined all of that.

U.S. Economy Shrank in 2020 Despite Fourth-Quarter Growth
Gross domestic product rose 4.0% in holiday quarter, as economists expect rebound in 2021 once coronavirus pandemic is under control
https://www.wsj.com/articles/us-gdp-economic-growth-fourth-quarter-2020-11611802382 And if you look at the 2021 economy, it is been steady growth and not the chaotic up and down of 2020.

The "energy independence" argument has been debunked many times already here. We were still dependent on the higher grade crude oil coming from the Middle East and elsewhere; the pipeline Biden cancelled was only a shortcut for an existing pipeline and it was for exporting Canadian shale oil to other parts of the world; the oil companies still have more drilling permits than they have ever used.

When has the southern border ever been controlled since JFK ended the bracero program in the early 1960's?

Worldwide inflation was inevitable due to the convulsions in supply and demand created worldwide by the pandemic, and then exacerbated by the Ukrainian war.

Biden ain't perfect, but he wasn't handed a rose garden, and little of what was handed to him is totally in his control.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@dancingtongue Shovel your shit somewhere else. Every free thinking person knows what gas prices were before Biden’s executive orders on day one. Give it a break. And fuel and inflation were on the rise well before the Ukraine war.

You’re just wrong. End of story
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@HoraceGreenley Keep telling yourself that.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
They gotta get Trump some way, they fear hes gonna be back.
Budwick · 70-79, M
I'm not seeing any buses or throwing.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
You must have really touched a raw nerve with the Trump Cult. I can only read 4 of the 18 responses due to blocking by the Cult members.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@windinhishair you really aren’t missing out
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@iamonfire696 Oh I know. I could probably predict what they have written without seeing it. They are very predictable.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@windinhishair you are correct lol
Ynotisay · M
Interesting that he never invoked Executive Privilege but he said he was considering waiving it. Don't understand that move at all. Reality is out the window.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Ynotisay @MistyCee This is what makes the whole thing smell of a set-up one way or another: Bannon was long gone from the Administration by the period of time leading up to 1/6 events, so Executive Privilege was never an issue. Bannon was using it as an excuse to hide behind, unless the courts ruled against him or Trump waived it. He was losing in court, so Trump waives it -- although it was never an option -- to "allow him" to fulfill the subpoena. Why? The only logical reason for Bannon is to justify his delay in upholding the subpoena and get the Contempt of Congress charges lifted. Why for Trump? Because he knows the questions will be about Bannon's role in organizing and promoting the crowds on 1/6 and it provides insurance should Bannon actually have some info on direct contact with Stone, Meadows, and others actually working for Trump. He's counting on Bannon taking the Fifth or committing perjury, but if not he can now claim "jeez, would I have ever waived Executive Privilege if I had know this was going on?" and throw them all under the bus. Even though anything Bannon was doing during the period under question was never under Executive Privilege to begin with.
@dancingtongue
Why for Trump?

I agree, but I think you may be over thinking Trump here.

Not that what you say doesn't make sense, but I'm not sure Trump thinks that many steps ahead, because as you pointed out, he doesn't really need to.

I think he's hanging onto his "I can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue" angle here, rather really trying to craft a defense.
Ynotisay · M
@dancingtongue You're right. It's all about Bannon trying to delay his trial for criminal contempt as long as possible. Must really suck for him that a judge shot that down today. But Trump getting involved? That says something. And you might be right.
RedBaron · M
Guess you find all this entertaining in some way. Have a good time.
ididntknow · 51-55, M
They can certainly twist things on here 😀😀
Baremine · 70-79, C
@ididntknow the DEMOCRATS and media twist everything especially when it involves President Trump.
Azlotto · M
LMAO! ... Biden is the bestest president we ever had.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Azlotto I included comedian.lol
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Baremine Is your beagle hound seriously considering a run? 🤔 I agree, better than Biden
Baremine · 70-79, C
@carpediem it couldn't be any worse and the beagle is lovable but not real smart.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
In Mr. Trump's mind, that is the only reason his supporters exist.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@CorvusBlackthorne in your mind only trump exists
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
