What would you do with a million dollars today ?...:)

AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
Buy a modest house with some land and start a nonprofit for homeless children.
elafina · 36-40, F
@AlchemyFox that's a SO beautiful dream that would spread so much happiness and return to you all of the happiness multiplied..:)
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@elafina I wish I could do more without a million dollars. I've come to realize it's not even about me or my happiness. I had my time to receive and life was good to me even through the hard times. I want to be in a position to give.
elafina · 36-40, F
Alright, I'll go too! In this order...
Firstly I'd sign for this 10day retreat in Peru lead by that inspiring to me woman....
I'd book that Külning (traditional herding singing to call cows in Sweden) for a week in Sweden.
Of course I'd sent a bit of money to two bright Nepali bright youngsters I've met..:)
I'd buy myself some nice clothes and care products! 🌸
I'd find a nice home in nature with a fireplace or stove, nearby waters and settle for a little while. (With wifi !!!)
I'd buy a new powerful (but light, I love traveling light!) MacBook. I'm techy but it's been a while I had access to any good machinery.
I'd built my site from scratch properly this time. I'd make everything efficient, all of the places I'm contacting (my mailbox, social media platforms, my accountant's stuff)..

I'd invest a bit of money to my flat on my island and when the renting contract is over, I'd suggest my sister to move into it.
I'd gift my family these gifts: a nice clothing item each and a yearlong subscription to some lessons/club of their choice and a ten days trip to a destination of their choice each.
I'd invest in property on a small Greek island.

Okay these for now because I can keep on for a long time apparently 🤭🌞

Oh yes and of course I'd be taking frequent trips to my Chinese dojo to refresh my martial arts.
And I'd buy art materials of my choice.
I didn't refer to those because of course I'd do these...:))
Hmm long text but I like long dreams 😘

Wait till the election and the second Trump is announced the winner buy shares if oil company stock. 0ne million dollars worth.
TexChik · F
@elafina I like the odds .
PatKirby · M
@TexChik

Great tip, I'll take it under consideration. I figure stock in Tylenol/Ibuprofen and Zoloft pharmaceuticals will also rise when he's elected as well.😆
TexChik · F
I’d like to buy everyone a cookie 🍪

1Dogma · F
@Iknowyourouttheresomewhere wow, I'm a cookie monster! 😉
elafina · 36-40, F
@Iknowyourouttheresomewhere aw 🥰 so sweet.....
Matt85 · 36-40, M
I'd just pay bills with it for a long time. Sorry lol boring 🙄
elafina · 36-40, F
@Matt85 each to their own ! 😁
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Buy gold & silver after acquiring an off-grid rural home…and a nicely built camper van.
elafina · 36-40, F
@cherokeepatti I thought to make it easier for you but you want it all the way 😊
I'd add a few fruit trees so you can have fruits in each season.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@elafina Yes I’d have fruit trees, a large variety of herbs, veggies, etc. as well.
elafina · 36-40, F
@cherokeepatti and few animals? Chickens for sure so you can have eggs..
exexec · 61-69, C
$100K to my church off the top. Put $500K into our retirement account, which would definitely make the total large enough to take care of us until we die. Put $50K into each grandchild's college savings account. Donate the rest to our favorite charities.
1Dogma · F
@exexec well accounted money.
exexec · 61-69, C
@1Dogma We are old and don't need anything new, so it's easy to give away a lot of it.
1Dogma · F
@exexec you can still splurge yourself to some luxuries in old age but you thought of giving which is just so awesome! Some people wouldn't think of anyone else but themselves when they have the money.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Pay off the motorhome and the credit card. Put a new roof on the house. Replace our driveway. Look at new impact resistant windows and doors. I would also look at hurricane shutters. The motorhome could use a new set of tires too. Then I would invest the rest and take the motorhome out for a month.
Plasticbag · 100+, M
Buy a holiday place for all my family to be in together ..pay for my nephews special schooling..put some in a trust fund for my kid..ensure care for my parents..buy a lifetime supply of oats.
elafina · 36-40, F
@Plasticbag I loved everything but the lifetime supply of oats caught me unprepared 😂
But they're truly beautiful dreams. A holiday house so all family can gather...💗
Plasticbag · 100+, M
@elafina oats are life tho
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Pay off daughters home loan, give other daughter $400,000 to buy a home, and do some travelling
Musicman · 61-69, M
@nedkelly You are a good man. Where would you like to travel to?
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Musicman Europe and USA again
Musicman · 61-69, M
@nedkelly Take the whole family with you?
PatKirby · M
Pay off debt, splurge once on a nicer car, buy a couple of condos and rent them out for steady income. Invest the rest at a measly 5% and live off the interest annually. Hire a financial planner to keep it all going.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
Invest in property or businesses, or both, for some more income. Complete house renovations. Book a holiday to Iceland. And I’d like to buy a tonne of land for a big dog sanctuary for ones who can’t find homes or have been mistreated, but somewhere nicer than a kennels.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
@elafina I’m sure places like this already exist, but i know i’d care for each of them like they were my own :)
elafina · 36-40, F
@DHggmu yes they exist but aren't enough you know..
elafina · 36-40, F
@DHggmu and I'm sure you will 😊
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Pay off my mortgage, put the rest in my retirement account, maybe keep 20 grand to go-to Vegas and do some stuff...whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
Jlhzfromep · M
Put it in the bank, Go to work, and not tell anyone
Jlhzfromep · M
@elafina maybe I will tell everyone at work today that I have 1m and see there reactions…hahaha
elafina · 36-40, F
@Jlhzfromep you're going to have fun yes, after all you'll be telling them the truth, you just put them in the bank and doing nothing with it 🤫
Jlhzfromep · M
@elafina I’ll hold my pinky finger to the edge of my mouth when I tell them I have “One Miiiiiillon Dollars”
DigitalBushido · 18-21, M
quit work, just be lazy and play video games all day, buy a girl slave to keep
Blondily · F
Leave it all in my will for my daughter.
elafina · 36-40, F
@Blondily nice of you! You can spend a little to yourself mrs too 💗
4meAndyou · F
A million dollar lottery win in Massachusetts is immediately taxed 50%. BUT...if it were tax free, I would buy a small ranch style house, and the rest of the money would have to go for taxes, for heating, and for air conditioning.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou not taxed in Australia 😀
4meAndyou · F
@nedkelly Yeah...but you guys have a commie government. Wouldn't live there on a bet. Wait...WE have a commie government, too...🤔🤔🤔😭
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Iwillwait Excellent plan! I love it. 🙂🙂🙂
Iwillwait · M
@Musicman Now... 'bout that Million dollars, where is that money?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Iwillwait Waiting at the lottery headquarters for you to claim it.
Madmonk · M

akindheart · 61-69, F
pay off debt, buy another house. fix it up and buy another one
Pay off my jeep. Repair my home. Go to Egypt for 2 months. Go crazy at the nursery. Invest. Buy another home to rent out for income. And give a bunch to the local dog rescues and a couple of horse ones too.

How about you, elafina? What would you do?
elafina · 36-40, F
@PoetryNEmotion I like your dreams... A trip to Egypt might be possible without that much... It must be so interesting..
And helping the animals 💗
I put my list in a long comment somewhere here if you scroll 📜 it's a long one be prepared but I wrote everything that came to mind. Not so free from desire 🤭 but we all have good intentions ultimately... that's what I see from the replies..
Everyone wants some sort of betterment..❤️ for their lives or for others..
I must go sleep now..:)
@elafina I will look at your answer later. Never worry about writing too much. I ramble too. LOL. If I had the money, I would spend it on helping real people who need it. Some of my friends. To pay their debts. To buy one a vehicle. To gift a trip or two. To go to meet some of my inner circle. The ones who are dear to my heart. To hug them. To stay a bit. They know who they are. Some are coming to visit me. I do permit that. Dream well, my friend.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
Invest at least half so I'll have enough later to live on and help out family when needed.

The other half I'd buy a wheelchair accessible home and vehicle for my family. Fix and replace the things that need it. A real vacation would be nice if there was anything left😃
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Do a massive amount of upgrading and maintenance on my house and garden and buy each of my children a place of their own so that i could have my own house to myself!
elafina · 36-40, F
@ninalanyon I like the plan. Let's hope they'll get into something and move by themselves.... You could also buy some designer clothes, just to have the feeling 😊
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@elafina There would be plenty left for fripperies!
elafina · 36-40, F
@ninalanyon now we're talking 😁
1Dogma · F
buy a house by the beach, travel a little, have a little business like a service funeral for dogs to their last destination, either by cremation or an orchard to bury them.
elafina · 36-40, F
@1Dogma oh... this sounds something possible for the near future...
A house by the beach 🏖️
Montanaman · M
Retire 😊😃
Put it in my bank account while I think about how best to spend it. Do some research into charities, look for a 1 bedroom apartment to buy.
elafina · 36-40, F
@NerdyPotato I'd love for you to buy your own apartment. But get a second bedroom, so you can host a friend sometime 😉
I would take time out from life. Make sure I had a passive income. Travel and help the people that I love.
elafina · 36-40, F
@Ozymandiaz I love your dream 💕 I wish it'll come true for you in some unexpected way...
val70 · 51-55
Heck, buy you all a much better cookie than Iknowyourouttheresomewhere. Of course 😁
@val70 Cheeky 😬. Just you wait 😌
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Have some work done around the house, buy some books, invest most of it.
elafina · 36-40, F
@ChipmunkErnie nice plan! You reminded me of books... My wishlist is simply growing for the day that I'll eventually settle in one place.
Perhaps you should treat yourself to some hamam spa and nice meals too 😊
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Refurbish the house, lock 50% of it away for retirement and invest the other 50%.
elafina · 36-40, F
@Longpatrol treat yourself too 😜
Barny52 · 56-60, M
Pay kids debts off then buy a camper van or boat and set off travelling
Me and Lady Crush would be taking a long vacation.
elafina · 36-40, F
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy yeah, very wisely spent 😉
SarahAndAJ · 41-45, C
Call me old, but I would pay off all my bills first
Invest it in undervalued stocks with higher than average return and lower than average risk, and a percentage into previous metals.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Buy a house. Renovate it. Sell it. Then do it again
Guardian · 56-60, M
Hopefully get out of debt!
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Use it as a down payment for a house.

Buy 2 houses
Book a holiday
Get a full time carer for my dad
Unquestioned · 70-79, M
I would lose my old age pention payments.
Initially put it in 4 different savings accounts with 4 different banks (due to the limits of FDIC insurance) with the highest interest rates today, put the interest from each in a 5th account at a 5th bank, and then consider anything else after this basic step (e.g., tolerance for risk of dividend stocks if the Fed lowers interest rates)
Lament about losing 60% in taxes, then buy that run down 2 bed 1 bath shack with the rest.
