Fines are out of control

In Queensland Australia a woman was find over $1000 for having a phone tucked in her bra while driving. She was photographed by a seatbelt and phone detection camera. Im just making aware what lengths governments in Australia are going to so as to take your cash.
the cops have become way to comfortable sticking their nose in your bizz.
they stop ppl randomly and when Q'd why their go-to response is 'suspicion'
suspicion of what?
we recieved a phone call.

now they got you. if you get cranky. youre beligerent and resisting..

its a bullshit set up from the start.

then they ask dumb Qs like where you been and where you going?
mother fucker i dont even tell my own mother that shit, who are you...

reform is needed big time.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout This needs to be exposed much more. How many unjust fines are being paid i wonder
@LandOfOz Because the courts set you up! People are brought up 5 at a time and it's implied that you should be a good little Borg and comply so as not to slow the process for everyone else.

Yes to fining people using phones while driving. We know people have died and we've seen people weaving over the road.
But this is ridiculous.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Just for the sake of objectivity, I read that article this morning... At no point did she say she wasn't using the phone and unless it's a hands free phone is a no no.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Well u should put your seatbelt on and your phone should be put away while u drive
chrisCA · M
@smileylovesgaming But mah freedumb. 😅
So, the phone was idle and the boobs were just a convenient holding place?
You have seatbelt detection cameras? I guess it shouldn't surprise me, I've been in wilderness areas that you could go a month without seeing another person but there are cameras hidden in the trees and have a small solar panel attached. 👀

So..... let me get this straight 🤔😄..... these cameras are positioned and focused on peeping in on women's boobies? This doesn't surprise me really. I've known all along, the cops are PERVS. ..🤣🥒🌶🥕🥖🥕🌽🌭....

[c=BF0000]They be like....[/c]

[c=BF0000]watching for the boobie photos to be shown...[/c] 😂

[c=002673]I learned about some of the crazy police officers Australia has from videos I saw during the Covid lockdowns. [/c]
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Abstraction I think I remember seeing videos of some incidents. In the videos the people were speaking English.
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@ProfessorPlum77 never to be forgotten

@ProfessorPlum77 This was a recent one in the last few months as a recent. Sorry I was talking about the fake pictures of police in riot gear and guns that were circulating on facebook during COVID.
Yes, there were anti-lockdown rallies where police and demonstrators clashed. I don't doubt there were instances where police stepped over the line - and many of these demonstrators were idiots - attacking a police horse for instance. I live in Victoria where a lot of the fake media about african gangs and police brutality has been hyped up.

Maybe just move to New Zealand.. I hear it's nice there!
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@GerOttman its nice here as well except its become too expensive to live
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@LandOfOz getting to be a problem pretty much everywhere!
MoonMoon · F
not sure how things are in australia... but here fines are related to your income... so if you are poor a 10€ fine and if you are rich that can easily become 1000€... and thats a good thing
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@MoonMoon they dont give a shit if you are poor or rich here in Australia. And the rich can afford to pay a lawyer to get them out of paying .
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@LandOfOz Agree. The intent that people supported was use of a phone. My phone lives in my pocket, I don't even know it's there and it's harmless. There's a point where it becomes revenue raising and invasive.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Having your mobile phone on your person or being used/touched in any way when 'driving' (defined as vehicle either moving or stationery, motor running, vehicle not parked in a safe place) is an offence now in basically all Australian states/territories.

Don't want a fine - don't touch your phone when driving or have it 'on your person'.

Don't want a fine - don't speed.

Simples.
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@zonavar68 that does matter and what else matters is people like you accepting draconian laws such as that
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@LandOfOz I just find it stupid people think their rights are being infringed by speed or red light cameras or mobile phone detection systems. Don't use phone don't get caught. Don't speed don't get caught. Drivers licence is a contract with the government not a free for all.
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@zonavar68 im not saying i disagree with cameras for speeding .red light cameras and phone detection cameras. Im talking about being done for phones in your pocket clearly not in use
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Mine is in a mount tucked down by the lower corner of the windscreen. It has my nav app on it and I use a bluetooth earpiece for audio and phone functions.
Krysclear · 31-35, F
My friend was seriously injured in an accident and was hit by a woman who ran a stop sign because she was on her phone.
Tickets and fines can’t get high enough IMO
MrAboo · 36-40, M
That’s crazy, would they fine her too if they could see it in her po let too? Damn.
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
@MrAboo dont give them ideas
Midnightblu · 51-55, F
How exactly do they position the camera to look inside the car let alone her bra ?
bookerdana · M
Busted..for bra strap crime
SW-User
seemed like a pretty easy fine to avoid, I completely support punishing distracted drivers
