Fines are out of control

In Queensland Australia a woman was find over $1000 for having a phone tucked in her bra while driving. She was photographed by a seatbelt and phone detection camera. Im just making aware what lengths governments in Australia are going to so as to take your cash.

Having your mobile phone on your person or being used/touched in any way when 'driving' (defined as vehicle either moving or stationery, motor running, vehicle not parked in a safe place) is an offence now in basically all Australian states/territories.

Don't want a fine - don't touch your phone when driving or have it 'on your person'.

Don't want a fine - don't speed.

Simples.

@zonavar68 oh come on mate what if you carry it in your pocket
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@LandOfOz Doesn't matter - if you get photographed with it in your pocket you'll get a fine.

@zonavar68 that does matter and what else matters is people like you accepting draconian laws such as that

@LandOfOz I just find it stupid people think their rights are being infringed by speed or red light cameras or mobile phone detection systems. Don't use phone don't get caught. Don't speed don't get caught. Drivers licence is a contract with the government not a free for all.

@zonavar68 im not saying i disagree with cameras for speeding .red light cameras and phone detection cameras. Im talking about being done for phones in your pocket clearly not in use
