It's the same price for each, breakfast included. So the basic room is literally the essentials. Bed, tv, shower and it's nicely decorated and modern etc. The expensive room has a king bed, balcony, and is a larger space.
Expensive hotels got better service and they're usually pretty gorgeous to walk around in. The most expensive room in a basic hotel is PROBABLY gonna be nicer since you'll get a suite and hottub or whatever, but I love being a fancy dancy hotel.
@CountScrofula Yeah, this is my thinking. The hotel itself from the outside, even. And the 'experience' from checking in, and up to the room. Plus the breakfast the next morning.
@helsbels Right. Unless it's a historical hotel, hotel rooms are all kinda the same. But I don't get to see fancy art or drink an excellent cocktail in the lounge in a Holiday Inn
Basic. I've been in a $400 a night hotel and had the worst sleep of my life. Lumpy bed, lumpy pillows, hot room, noisy from the bar downstairs. I've been in one for probably less than $100 a night and had the best night of hotel sleep ever. It was basic, kinda ugly room but was a 5 minute walk from the beach with an ice cold window A/C unit, that hummed and put me to sleep. The basic also had a microwave and kitchenette. The $400 rip-off didn't even have a microwave 🙄
I love the feeling of being in an expensive hotel. A basic room would be fine for me. In my travels, there have often been times when I stayed at a basic hotel because it suited my budget but I’d go have a meal at a nearby luxury hotel just to soak up the surroundings.
I'll take the expensive room in the basic hotel. That's because I'm thinking the bar prices will be more reasonable, and the people a little more friendly.
@helsbels long as it has basic creature comforts television tea maker shower i am happy for the length of time you spend in the room i think it hardly matters
Basic Room at the nicer hotel in most situations. The exception might be if I'm living out of the hotel for an extended period, like a few weeks for work, then I might go for the nicer room in a basic place. If I'm on vacation, I'm going to want the amenities like a pool, hot tub, sauna, and such. If I'm working out of it, I'm going to want the nicer room to decompress in.
@helsbels All through the 90's I stayed in numerous weeklies and monthlies in three different states now and then, all I needed were a bed, tv, phone, ac/heat, and a bathroom, to make me happy.
