I'm 42. And this past year I've noticed changes within my body.. showin signs of aging .. I am not dealing with it very well .. I am having a very difficult time with aging .. and the changes .. I know growing old is a privilege.. but how do some stay young looking ?

Date old men and you will always be young.
@LoneVoice thanks for best comment!!

I am 64 years old and Im enjoying every second of it...

It is the matter of acceptance and self appreciation... I dont socialize with young people much and if I do, I enjoy their youth rather than envying it.... my friends are growing old with me and we appreciate each and every beauty that remains with us...
@Wiseacre

Lol.... young at heart.... thank you.... 🤗🤗

I am going to turn 70 next year. I feel great and I notice the changes but I am thankful for every year I am granted in this life.

@Magenta Thank you. 😊 🌹

In a few years I will be 50. I’ve never really concerned myself that eventually I’d grow old and look older than I am now.

Lifestyle has a huge impact on aging and skin. I don’t drink or smoke. I eat healthy foods (1-2x fast food a year). I’m still able to do the active lifestyle I used to have when I was in my 20’s.

Be kind to yourself and your body. You’ll thank yourself for it one day.

@CookieCrumbs excellent points
@GJOFJ3
I will not trade off the life experiences for the years I’ve gained. 😌
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
@CookieCrumbs I totally agree

A healthy lifestyle will help . That doesn’t mean jogging or cardio. No smoking , limit alcohol intake , increase water intake dramatically, eat healthy, use vitamins and supplements, and exercise. Walk , stretch, light weights , and then stay active . If you were starting to notice changes in the outside then they are happening on the inside. Your body and health now take priority. Challenge yourself to learn something new , and change up your routines . You will find an active mind and body can be a lot of fun ! 😉
Eh, age is but a number to me personally. With age comes wisdom and so many incredible epiphanies about myself and life itself. I enjoy those moments thoroughly because I'm not done with growing just yet.🌷
Tbh, I'm just grateful to be alive after facing so many health battles that haven't been in my favor. Once upon a time I was even ready to give up. Fast forward a couple years, and at the grand age of 43, I can finally say I love myself. By no means I'm I ugly on the outside, but on the inside, beauty is now the fabric in which makes me "me". Good luck on finding happiness on the inside, and it'll radiate on the outside. It's all about baby steps and eventually taking a leap of faith.💕
@MoonlightLullaby

Love this.... We (all of us) get more beautiful as we age.... I know YOU do... 💖🤗

Don’t worry about it, many don’t get to your age.

Embrace it 😌
I'm not really looking forward to turning 45 in the fall. But it's going to happen eventually no matter what, so the best thing to do is try and embrace it and adjust to the changes the best we can.
Yeah bc aging women are treated like old hags. It's not fair. I'm not even 30 and I feel old already. Society is obsessed with youth, it's not your fault.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@lovelywarpedlemon when we were young like in our late teens and early twenties though, it seemed like all Society did was give us a hard time. Then when you're over 30 suddenly people are telling you you are too old to do all those things that we were once told we were too young to do. It's like you're screwed either way
@CestManan exactly lol 🖤
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If you consider the alternative maybe it won’t hit so hard.
take care of your lifestyle

@PepsiColaP Very sound advice.

My sis is turning 40 soon & looks fab still. She follows a rigid skincare routine and also gets fillers & botox. Natural looking, nothing crazy but they definitely make a difference in a good way.
Fertilization · 36-40, F
Oh come on
Be confident 🙂😊

It is one of the most amazing phases of life. Trust me

I prefer ageing gracefully to wearing tons and tons of botox on my face.

And I would rather you didn’t get stuck in midlife crisis.
CestManan · 46-50, F
So for the op, I think about this whole aging thing a lot. More about getting older rather than the actual aging process and I've read some articles about it. Basically it has been said that one's 40s is the most depressing decade as far as that goes. People in their 50s don't seem to care as much, in their 60s they seem happier than they've ever been, in their 70s they are just thankful for each extra day above ground, and who knows Beyond that.

What might help though is to remember that at our age the world does not try to bullshit us as much. We actually start to gain a little respect. We also start to accept our lot in life instead of chasing unrealistic dreams or wishing we had things that we just never will. For the physical part, I guess just try to take our diets more serious, lay off the drink, drugs, and smoking. I'm working on that smoking part.

And something else we should already know but some people forget is to not get into situations that we cannot easily get out of. At our age those things would be don't get in trouble with the law, don't take on any new chemical addictions, don't get pregnant nor married just because time is running low or some crap, and whatever
Purplehaze78 · 46-50, F
At least 8 hours of sleep, drink lots of water, laugh often, and oh lastly don't give a fok about stuff that would just stress you 😁
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
Aging sucks but nothing we can do about it..... but fight it. Then you get too old for fighting it....lol.
Magenta · F
It's not a one size fits all, it's different for everyone. Most of it is simply in the genes.
I was in my prime in my 40's and some of my 50's as well. Only recently I've noticed definite changes. So I guess it's how we (try to) accept it.

Keeping active/exercise is highly important, eating well, and finding something(s) you are passionate about, that you can engage in, can help with the mental/emotional.
Miram · 31-35, F
There is nothing wrong in aging. Maybe if society stops acting like it is all unnatural, people will stop lying about looking younger and posting edited or old images of themselves.

The way one looks is mainly genetics. Self care is small part. Sooner or later we all get them wrinkles and poor health.
Magenta · F
@Miram Indeed. In the end, WE have little to do with it.
Selah ·
Do something that makes you feel good.
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
I am 64 this year,and have noted far more dire changes than you have at 42.It is nothing to do with how you have aged,but rather,how you have acted during your life.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
Try to eat healthy and do a little exercise every day.
You don't have to have a gym membership but at least walk around the block or try some yoga or qigong (yoga lite...lol).
And be prepared to get reading glasses because your eyesight diminishes after 40.

But beauty and youth comes from the inside. Keep looking forward to the future and making new plans. Don't live in the past.

I am 62 but the younger guys I work with tell me that I 'don't act old'. ....lol... I am not sure what that means, but I take it as a compliment.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@DallasCowboysFan damn right about eyesight to diminishing after 40, I will be 48 soon and I can no longer lie to myself about the fact that it is happening
Pretzel · 61-69, M
not a lady (or female) but
it's like my dad said "growing old ain't for sissies"

the good thing is that most of the time it beats the alternative
Adrift · 61-69, F
Staying active is a big part of it.
Not being afraid to learn new things helps keep the mind going.
Jungleman · M
everyone ages, all anyone can do is eat sensibly and keep fit, the rest is up to god.
Graylight · 51-55, F
The best skin regimens and workout routines in the world won't stop the aging process. We have to grieve the loss of things never to return. However, if you can balance that with the knowledge that the trade-off is wisdom and general clarity, it seems a fair enough trade.
SW-User
@Graylight Nice. Like the realistic view.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
You can’t stay young looking just enjoy life, it starts going faster after 40 but in my case it gets better and better
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I worry about it dibilating me in future
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
You don't have to look young, just good. Stay fit without getting muscle bound, stay slim without being too thin. Keep active and stand up straight. Don't let your skin be exposed to too much sun and wind, keep it moisturised.

At least that's how it seems to me.
fun4us2b · M
Not a lady, but I can relate! I read the men's version of this, and found it cleverly written and helpful from both the physical and mental perspectives.

Growing old is a privilege

I tell my grandkids that when they tease me about being a "Rice Crispy boomer" (apparently all my joints go SNAP,CRACKLE, POP)
Wiseacre · F
63 here😔I am still healthy but I’m le age terrifies me. I’ve done Botox and fillers for yrs! I didn’t worry at 42...don’t rush time!
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
Sometimes it's genetics. My maternal side the women stay looking younger longer. I also don't smoke, use drugs and rarely drink.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
I turn 64 on 8/21....I see my body changing also but accept the fact I am just getting older and time just shows.
JackJames · M
Mines not the staying young looking but not being sore all the time.

Nah...i like the idea of aging gracefully
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Healthy lifestyle and good genes.

I am 59 in a couple of days I dont want to get old but it happens so quickly, just embrace it because its not just you getting older we all are.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I will be 40 soon. It is what it is. You can’t change it so you should just enjoy life.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@CestManan I didn’t think it would last this long either tbh. I graduated high school in 2000. When everyone thought the world would end lol.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@iamonfire696 I remember thinking, "Someday when the class of 2000 graduates, They will have the honor of saying the graduated on THAT year!"
Of course the media kind of ruined any positive hype about Y2K.

Gyod now, Y2K grads have been out for 22 years. Babies born back then are now old enough to legally drink.

I vaguely remember my brother's HS graduation in '79 and remember seeing all those "really old people" in caps and gowns. I was thinking, "They might not live much longer since they are so old."

Stuff's crazy I tell ya.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@CestManan where I live in my province you only need to be 18 to legally drink but you have to be 19 to buy weed.

Yah I have been out of high school for a long time 😭😭😭.

You don't look a day over 36

Spend more time at the beach

It's a 12 minutes paddle
