The Atheists should try forgiveness and see how itakes them feel

Those that believe in Christian mercy, love and eternal life may have a monopoly on heaven and salvation but we don't necessarily have a monopoly on the concept of forgiving those that have trespassed against us.

Atheists, next time someone wrongs you, instead of responding with spite and malice and becoming fixated on revenge, try instead to forgive the person who wronged you. Try and turn your mind to more pleasant things. Becoming obsessed with revenge will make you look older (because of stress hormones) and you will be emotionally unbalanced. But if you can forgive someone, you will find a measure of piece that might over time grow and change you as a person in a positive way that you may find surprising.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Where do you get the idea that forgiveness can only be exercised those who believe in god? A person who can't forgive is not an atheist, they're a sociopath.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@BlueMetalChick I don’t think you can refer to a spectrum of things that can’t be quantified.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@newjaninev2 Color cannot be quantified yet we refer to that as a spectrum.

I guess you can quantify it by wavelength of light, but that runs into problems when you get into tertiary colors.
@newjaninev2 Black and white, all colours can be quantified on a colour chip. My work is in print. Yet colour is being used as a metaphor here, and those can be quantified somewhere but to each their own subjectivity.

I know your post is out of good intention sweetheart

But Why always in your posts it’s either “Christians” or “atheists” ?Lol

You do realize there are other religions besides Christianity right ? For example Im a Muslim.

And second of all, being a Christian doesn’t necessarily mean you are a forgiving nice person😅
Just because you believe in god doesn’t mean you are automatically a practicing forgiving person with great morals.
You are talking as if all Christians are forgiving.
I swear I have met some atheists who were some of the nicest people I have ever met.
And I have met some Christians and religious people in general who were some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met in my entire life even in my own religion.
And of course vice versa, many wonderful Christians Muslims etc..

In Islam god always associates belief with good deeds
Because belief alone doesn’t take you anywhere
Every time god says “those who believe “
After it it comes “and do good “
For example :
{Indeed, those who believe, and do good....}2:277

I know you are only trying to advise people and preach your religion no harm in that , but maybe you could word it in a different way next time ? Maybe advise people in general? Even Muslims Jews Buddhists etc and Christians themselves need this advice.
Im a muslim not an atheist , but this is not a way to preach the forgiveness of Christianity in my opinion.
Have a good day!
@Moon3624 Why those determined, by society, are acting in good faith when I actually feel most are just trying to live. No one has moral authority over anyone, yet we give Creedence and create false ideas.

More simply put, two people could the same crime, one who has the given creed in faith, expresses remorse, while the other one may express the same, the one who says they are devoutly religious is believed more?

@thewindupbirdchronicles
First I totally don’t agree with her post especially how she worded it, so if I gave you the wrong impression I sincerely apologize🥰

Good manners have nothing to do with being religious and vice versa.
But I was just saying that she “may “ said all of that out of good intention but worded it offensively.

If you want to know “Islam’s” point of view then:

In Islam even if you donate as much as the size of the sun multiplied a thousand times to charity and do good in your life
If you die as a non Muslim
Then what good you did on earth will not benefit you in the sight of god by the least
Because you did the worst crime possible
which is not believing in him And worshiping him. So every good deed you did goes to waste. Its like watering an empty pot since
The core (seed ) is missing.
It’s like standing in front of god on the day of judgment
And mentioning all the good deeds you did in life as deep as the ocean yet denied worshiping him and believing in him. So everything you did doesn’t matter.
It’s like getting windows doors etc for your house but you don’t have the foundation.
BUT
Similarly though “belief “ alone doesn’t take you anywhere in Islam
You need belief + good deeds.
That’s why in Quran every time god says “those who believe “ it’s followed up by “and do good”
Believing in god alone with no partners is the core seed and good manners etc is the water.

So technically in Islam belief alone doesn’t take you anywhere , you need beautiful morals and to do good deeds too.

However, the ridiculous idea that atheists or non Muslims are all mean because they lack “religion “ is stupid and doesn’t exist in Islam.
If having faith in god automatically makes you a good person god wouldn’t have bothered to add “and do good deeds “ after “those who believe “
a non Muslim can be very well mannered and we are obligated to treat you with respect and live with you in harmony.
{You have your way, and I have my Way.}109:6

{Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.} 60:8

So as long as you don’t fight us
We “should “ treat you with respect and justice.

As for the last part , in Islam you can’t be unjust even if it’s between a Muslim and a non Muslim.

During the time of prophet Mohammed, a Muslim stole a Shield from his Muslim neighbor and Then put the blame on a Jew who lived in the same neighborhood and swore he did it ,
And of course prophet Mohammed at first believed the Muslims and was about to give the ruling against the Jew
But god didn’t allow that injustice to occur
Imagine verses from 7 skies above
Came down to exonerate a Jew , Even though he denied Islam.
Check the verses out :
It starts with:
{Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate.} 4:105

(check the remaining verses 4:106-114 )

And you can even double check what I’m saying ^
Because god simply said :
{Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight} 4:40

Of course this is “Islam” as a religion
but not every “Muslim “ follows Islam by word sadly.
(Allah is Arabic word for god)

Have a good day💕
@Moon3624 Appreciated Moon. I know Allah is the Arabic word for god.

I was listening to a program on radio tonight of Indigenous music, and the one musician interviewed Indigenous talked about this, God, Allah, The Creator is all the same in meaning in name; I choose the name 'The Creator'

Thank you for the long response and expressed openly.
Maybe you can answer something for me then, why is religious zealots feel they have capital on all that is "good"? Give up the dogma that separates society, it's truly boring
I have, unfortunately, not noticed that Christians have a better forgiveness track record. They talk about it more, but actually doing it is a different question.
@Mamapolo2016 Some people talk about what they want in life instead of what they are good at.
Nanori · F
My religious family wanted to kill me cause I told them about forgiving their enemies and beauty of life
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Nanori People can claim anything it's harder to put into practice.
Really sad they can't see they are blind to the dictates of thier own religion.(If they claim Christainty)
And so sorry that was your experience.
Nanori · F
@Justmeraeagain yeah it's funny

I was just saying cruelty can come from anyone and it has nothing to do with religion or lack of it

😚
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Nanori I am not sure what the poster means anyone can show mercy, of course.
However, perhaps she only means these are key aspects of the religion?(At least should be)
To assume athiests never forgive is faulty,as well, but meaning sometimes gets muddled here.
1. Be open-minded and be willing to alter your beliefs with new evidence.

2. Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true.

3. The scientific method is the most reliable way of understanding the natural world.

4. Every person has the right to control of their body.

5. God is not necessary to be a good person or to live a full and meaningful life.

6. Be mindful of the consequences of all your actions and recognize that you must take responsibility for them.

7. Treat others as you would want them to treat you, and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective.

8. We have the responsibility to consider others, including future generations.

9. There is no one right way to live.

10. Leave the world a better place than you found it.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
I think OP is mostly talking about the narcissistic internet atheist spergs
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@newjaninev2 Words have meanings, they're used universally. I'm sure you're not defining your terms when you have a conversation with someone, so why would you in a discussion? Neither party can ever agree on how to define them anyways. Each party just defines it in a way that furthers their agenda.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@newjaninev2 Well, sperg originally was a term for someone with Asperger's syndrome, but it's kinda lost that meaning and nowadays it means someone who engages in hyper-specific interests and fixative behaviors. Think back to when Homestuck was at its peak and fans of it would be loud and bothersome and constantly try to tell everyone about Homestuck even if it didn't fit the conversation at all. That's sperg behavior.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@BlueMetalChick I had go to Google on Homestuck... both a foreign country and a different generation 😀
tindrummer · M
I think your preaching would be better directed at many self-professed christians who are less able to live a lifestyle Jesus would approve of than most atheists
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Nice thought, unfortunitly, both some athiests here and some claiming Christianty are more intrested in arguing thier point than being a kind person.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Entwistle Only if one has courage and integerity to walk away.Otherwise there would not be 3 day posts with both parties spouting off the same ideas even when they realize the other person disagrees.

The argument, according to the standard dictionary, is defined as ' a disagreement or quarrel...a debate is the exchange of ideas where one may or may not adopt the other debators ideas.
Ferric67 · M
@Justmeraeagain nailed it all Rachel 🔨
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Justmeraeagain No,all arguments and debates come to an end. No exceptions to that fact.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Nanori Yeah I'm afraid the bible doesn't want any women teachers.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Allelse Just access to young, plastic, minds so indoctrination is easier.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@newjaninev2 Well you know how much religion likes em young.
I am more forgiving than u could imagine in your wildest dreams

thats cause I am a HUMANITARIAN

bullocks with this religious intolerance on SW

it sucks SOUL
Atheist here and I'm just like what? I think mercy is a virtue it's why I believe in restorative justice rather than our justice system.

I think it takes strength to forgive sometimes and that given how challenging it can be it does make you a better person to let go of things from time to time.

it also can be very painful to hold onto anger and resentmemt. just because I lost faith in god doesn't mean I think every christian concept is toxic.
At least try and be a little less miserable..
PrincessOfQuilts · 31-35, F
My eyes just rolled straight out of their sockets. Way to go on such a high level of condescending dribble
Allelse · 36-40, M
@PrincessOfQuilts Awesome I'm in!!! Just to warn you though, I look like this -

@IndigoSavage I can't forgive you sorry, the atheist is still too strong in me. I'm as hurt as a jihad victim !

@Lifeismystery What? That seems so far from this conversation now, while I get the reference. Why is it life long? I admit my life seems long.

Thank you for the advice but nah.

Slapping > forgiving

You can forgive people without being religious
Nanori · F
@SW-User unblievable how this is such a kindergarten lvl lesson yet it's so hard for some ppl to comprehend
Thank you. This what i tell people too.
chrisCA · M
Considering some of the posts, and comments, from the so-called Christians on this site, they are just as spiteful, malicious, and unbalanced as anyone else.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Why do you ask me atheists lack forgiveness and compassion?
DDonde · 31-35, M
What makes you think I don't?
