Are you on pain meds?

Tramadol is a great pain med. the problem is what to do when it stops working.
I've been on tramadol for 25+ years for a genetic spine disease. They were actually made as an alternative to opioids but in this screwed up world idiots figured out how to get off on them and the feds put in class of opiods. Smart asses will blurb out their crap about you doing them but truth is they work and you arent zombied out like opiods do.
I am on two/6hr. That is about as strong a dose as you can do.
Without tramadol I am in a wheelchair; on tramadol I am walking and functioning almost normal. Critics can say their crap but I ask them to WALK in my shoes without a powerful pain killer. Most will cry like a baby.
Check with your doctor on your dosage. Its hell to rely on meds to function but life is hell without. Check into other means of pain management. Tens units might help.
Hope you find a way to control your pain.

@Suggestmeone It is an opioid because it interacts with opioid receptors, not because people get high from it.
most eventually do
one thing is to learn
not to fear the pain
holding it of is exhausting

when I gave in, and let it "take me"
I was surprised i was still alive

other wise?
have 3 or 4 differnt meds.
and rotate them over time

I feel for you,, and your struggle

No right now I have a lipoma on my upper back that's benign but at times has been extremely painful. I've had various other painful injuries or maladies. Doctors make me sick. I'll curse them in my mind to my last breath
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
I can only offer bad advice like "heroin" or "fentanyl"
Allelse · 36-40, M
@GlitterEater Bahahahaha!!! 🤣
pride49 · 31-35, M
@GlitterEater heard of a new drug that's out that makes you act like a literal zombie. Eating dirt and shit
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@pride49 I’ve heard and been warned about drugs like that since the nineties.
I was on the max dose of gabapentin with a side of amitriptyline for a nerve issue. It didn't work so now I'm taking lyrica without much luck
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@SooperSarah I was on max dosage of gabapentin (3600mg a day) along with cymbalta (duloxetine) for nerve pain/neuropathy; worked for maybe a month or two, but that combination really messes with your head.

amitripyline helps for speed (going to sleep anyways, does nothing for staying asleep for me)
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I've been on all kinds over the years; trouble is, taking any of them for any length of time, they get to the point that they do absolutely nothing...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
all opium/narcotic based pain relievers lose their effect with extended use (and are addictive); none of them are any kind of a solution for long term pain.

It's only in recent years that doctors have finally admitted to how dangerous they can be & have strayed away from prescribing them so often. The VA was notorious for it years ago; after my injury in Army, I was prescribed 20/800 oxycodone (20mg oxy, 800mg acetaminophen); I don't even think they make them that strong anymore because it's propensity for stopping people's hearts...

Tramadol is a bottom level opiate. (When it first came out it was OTC). Talk to your prescriber about moving a notch up to a pain pill that will work for you.
twistedandperverted77 · 46-50, M
600mg pregbalin , 150mg effexor. 200mg celebrex, 5gm of18% thc cannabis flower and 4.5ml of 18% cannabis oil . And 20mg valium for work injury management.
DavidScott · 51-55, M
I was prescribed tramadol once. It was nice, but my tolerance for opioids goes up so fast it was gone by the third day
teachmetiger210503 · 36-40, M
Darvoncet is the stronger one I use that for about ten years.
Vanishing · F
@teachmetiger210503 is that an opiod? haven't heard that one
teachmetiger210503 · 36-40, M
@Vanishing yes contains the opioid dextroptopoxyphene goes by different name s in different countries.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
nothing stronger than ibuprofen
I'm afraid of that stuff
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@Pretzel ibuprofen is good for pain
Allelse · 36-40, M
Nope, most of my medication is to prevent seizures.
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
Try Marijuana!!
Vanishing · F
@Goodluckwiththat tried it. I don't like it unfortunately
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
@Vanishing there's edibles!! You don't have to smoke it
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Never worked for me
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Nurofen zavance
Taking lots of supplements helped me with cancer pain specifically liquid omega 3. I was also prescribed tramadol but honestly it’s shit barely works but it helps with my anxiety. You most likely need a stronger opioid but they are super addicting.
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Nope. Probably should be but they won't give me anything. 😂

I was on Fentanyl and Percocet back in 2011 though.
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
@Vanishing I honestly don't know. I guess I'm just so used to being in pain at this point that I don't present like I'm in pain?

I've got spinal cord thinning from brain damage that has made my legs cramp and tone themselves constantly for 13 years now. Also have a metal hip on one side and a hip that's going bad on the other.

thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
@Vanishing Nah, it's all good. Just been a crazy health journey haha. Not quite what I had planned for my adult years but life had other ideas. :)
pride49 · 31-35, M
My grandmother used that. It is low level. However due to falls she needed oral morphine and then had to have powerful opiates all the time when the dementia completely took her mind.
No .. just old man aches and pains to deal with, generally not bad enough to bother taking anything. Take an Aleve now and then when beyond the norm.
Torsten · 36-40, M
nope. I wont touch pain meds. I seen what it has done to people who get addicted to them and i want no part in that. I would prefer pain over that
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
It is a sort of unique pain medication with someone me antidepressant activity. It also doesn't seem to cause as much constipation.
I guess tramadol worked enough to get me off my hands and knees. I can't say I felt pain free with it in my system, though.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Not prescribed pain meds, I take ibuprofen for headaches and stuff occasionally
laotzu92 · 70-79, M
@FreeSpirit1 the real wonder drug!
Thankfully do not need anything beyond an Aleve now and then when I forget I'm not 35 anymore
No. I think that scares me; that they wouldn’t work when I really needed them.
TexChik · F

I often take pain meds.
Azlotto · M
Not yet...I do take Moringa powder for joint pain.
That's why I hate pain pills. You build up a tolerance.
