@jshm2 Why is you only show up to disagree with people? Do you not have the wit in your head to write post?

dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Exactly. Real life is not a digital video game. Very few things are black and white, good and evil, right and wrong. Human interaction requires some effort to listen to one another, understand each other, and laugh together --- even when it is about our own foibles.

See I feel the best satire comes from its own. Nobody knows how to skewer the left like the left.

A centrist attacking ideas they don't hold personally means the satire is obvious and without teeth. Satirizing the "other side" is usually boring and obvious.
Well said, I couldn’t agree more!!!!

@TangledUpInBlue Pour yourself a drink immediately. You deserve it.
@AdmiralPrune Thanks.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
that sounds sorta productive :)
i've not really tried it yet.
AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
@Matt85 It’s an entertaining and productive thing. But people will will hate you for not jumping to a side with both feet.

If they can’t pigeon hole you, they’ll not trust you.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@AdmiralPrune Yeah, you are probably right there.

Interesting viewpoint! VERY productive if you make your living as a comedian or writer.
On some topics there is no middle ground. If you welcome both sheep and wolves, you'll only get wolves. Not choosing between the two is a choice to support the wolves.

@NerdyPotato Violence is a marvellously efficient deterrent. Why do you think despite all the provocations that the Arab nations are content to watch? The Saudis are even talking about normalising relations. The enemy of my enemy etc.

As I said I’m no pal of the Israelis either, if the Arabs won’t remind them there’s a limit to what they can get away with, they will keep at it. But it doesn’t matter. If it’s Israelis or Palestinians. It’s evil people in a horrible part of the world I don’t ever wish to have to return to.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AdmiralPrune violence is indeed a wonderfully efficient deterrent. No major change ever happened without it. The question we have to ask ourselves is if the change in question is something we want to be a precedent.

More human rights for everyone? Yes, absolutely worth it. Any nation taking over other territory whenever they feel like it? That's not something I'm willing to make sacrifices for. But maybe that's just me. 🤷
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Yeah, sorry, but taking the middle ground when the right literally wants to lock up huge portions of the left for being the way we are means you're taking the side of the right.
AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire Not in my country. This sounds like a you problem.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AdmiralPrune I know, right? Because it isn't like we all live on the same planet or something.
AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire Not relevant to me or mine.
The observer sees…

The best satire ALWAYS takes the side opposite to that which is satirizes; it doesn't limit itself to one side, though.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
It's easier when you believe (as I do) that people in power are either greedy or beholden to people that want to increase and improve their wealth.

Everybody is lampoon-able
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Ah, yes. The enlightened centrist.
The right think I’m a Lib, the left think I’m a Nazi

Sums me up. 🤭

BRILLIANT ENTERTAINING AND NONPARTISAN
