No. When I was cooking for a living I used to enjoy devising vegan recipes - all natural ingredients, no synthetic meats etc - but all my experience says that a totally vegan diet isn't actually that healthy.
ArtieKat · M
@Docdon23 Thanks for your reply.
@ArtieKat it's not via supplements. You can get everything omnivore diet gives you via vegan produce.
ArtieKat · M
@greensnacks OK. But many people do take supplements nevertheless, and do eat highly processed factory foods.

I did try but it didn't agree with me. I still don't eat much meat and I make the effort to buy more ethically produced, but I don't feel great about eating animals.
Veganism, no. But my mother became a vegetarian later in life; she said she felt less sluggish and was able to manage her weight much better with that diet. My diet still includes poultry and seafood, but I increased the percent of fruits and vegetables in it, as well as learning new ways to prepare them, by cooking for my mother.

Veganism sadly is only truely sustainable for a select group of people, whos metabolism and body needs are perfectly met with the plant based protein and animal product alternatives for food stuffs, as such i think boosting it as a fad diet was a really bad move and even worse choice by enviro-confrontationists. Its great in theory but just not.everyone can do a pure vegan lifestyle, not refering to not using leather or stuff things we totally could all just not buy!
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
I made an effort to be more vegetarian and eat vegetarian meals for about a month, trying to reduce my subscription to animal proteins but it was really hard - not that I couldn’t tolerate it, but to always research meals that are meals and not just a side dish to protein.
Docdon23 · M
I have been vegan for 20 years, and am so healthy!!! I also look 20 years younger than I am. Love it. And the food is great.
Lilymoon · F
I tried that route for about 4 months.
I lost too much weight and I was always hungry.
Now I think a wide variety is a good way to go
SaorUladh · 31-35, M
No. While I respect the choices and/or moral arguments of people who are vegan, I don't feel any inclination or need to join them.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
im veggie and disagree with a lot of the stuff they do on battery farms
im kinda warey of buying products from an establishment that fund such practises

i dont know if i could become full vegan though
my sister is vegan.
Piper · 61-69, F
Yes. Although I stopped eating the meat of animals 40+ years ago, I know I'd be more at peace with myself if I stopped being a consumer of any animal 'products'.
Yes that's the goal one day. I'm vegetarian now.
Dallas7 · 22-25, F
I have allergies so I had to be for health reasons. Im allergic to gluten on top of it 💀 which makes eating out really hard
ArtieKat · M
@Dallas7 When I was cooking for a living - including ready-meals during the pandemic - I made sure that the vegan dishes were also gluten-free as I know several coeliacs.
Dallas7 · 22-25, F
@ArtieKat Thank you for being responsible and considerate for those with the condition

No. I don't ever see myself giving up milk and eggs. They are great sources of nutrients.
BlueVeins · 22-25
5 years for me, still going strong. (:
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Sure! And if you've got 4 or 5 hours I'd love to tell you all about it!
I eat a couple no meat meals in my rotation of things .. no desire to take it further
exchrist · 31-35
I sort of tried for awhile. Wasnt for me. Also was way more expensive, time consuming, and inconvenient. I think less nutritive too.
No it's not healthy to try to pretend your body is not an Omnivore, in my opinion .
ArtieKat · M
@FreeSpirit1 In mine too 👍
Fullmetal · 51-55, M
@FreeSpirit1 yes, your eyes face the front for a reason
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
I am vegetarian! No eggs too
Tell me benefits of veganism and how we can full fil our protein requirements from vegan food?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
No, but I do find myself choosing meatless meals more often as I get older
ArtieKat · M
@DrWatson There's a much wider choice nowadays than when we were young
PlaygirlDizzy · 31-35, F
I want to but I don't think my body plus health issues would allow me
It really wouldn't work for me ...I need protein
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No. I occasionally go for a vegetarian dish as an option but not from principle.
nuddie · 70-79, M
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
No not for me
YoMomma · 41-45
I thought about it
Ducky · 31-35, F
In the sense of trying a vegan recipe that looks good to me, sure. 😂
Only if I could afford a professional chef to plan meals, buy the food, and prepare it.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
Nope I like bacon 🥓
Fullmetal · 51-55, M
@Cigarguy101 the gate way meat for vegans...lol
Iwillwait · M
I am not sure I could be so defensive about everything I am not willing to eat and would completely be exhausted before my meal came I would starve to death.
I would find it very hard to go without real cheese…
Jexie · 26-30, F
Nah, you need a balanced diet and it's too much hassle. It's best to look after yourself first
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
I think I could do it like on a Tuesday night.
What’s the difference
?
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Voluntary malnutrition?

No thanks.
Loll, just like any other diet, veganism can be healthy or unhealthy, depending on how it's followed.
I go through phases, but not enough to stick to it
Lukeman · M
It's the only humane diet.
tenente · 36-40, M
i've tried being vegetarian and vegan and it's not for me
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Nope I like meat too much
