It’s been a common practice in Asia long before anyone had heard of covid 🙂🐼🥢
swirlie · 31-35, F
@Dlrannie
That's absolutely true. You will never pass through an international airport and find Asians whom are NOT wearing a mask as you say, "long before anyone had heard of Covid".
Nimbus · M
@Dlrannie Forerunners uh? :)

@Nimbus Yep🙂🐼🥢😘

I remember getting the tube in London and when I blew my nose it was black and gross. Honestly if I lived in a city I’d wear a mask, the air is full of crap I wouldn’t want in my body
SW-User
@Musicman the air in underground systems is horrific, people don’t realise what they’re inhaling every day 🤢 I’ll stick to my fresh sea air

Scared of catching the you-know-what…. Some may be on chemo or have an immune disorder though so don’t be disrespectful if you don’t know. I think it would be worse to cause bacteria to grow in the lungs and better to stay away from people especially crowds indoors as much as possible if there is a higher chance of catching something from others.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Good point 👍
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus Strep throat is going around now in schools and probably the flu soon too. When people eat a lot of sweets during the holidays it seems they are more vulnerable and being in large stores with crowds of people just spread it around. I remember several years ago there was a combination of strep throat and flu that was going around and several people died, including a child in a nearby city. Some were hospitalized because they got so sick from the combination. My friend had several serious health issues and caught the flu and died and that’s why the boy lives with us for the past 9 years. I am making him rooibos tea which helps strengthen the immune system by creating more white blood cells. I don’t hear anything about strep going around in high school like it did when he was in grade school, he caught it several times back then.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti I guess it's that time of year.
Yep, one cannot be too careful I guess.

@BLP11520 so not true! We don’t wear one but with hubs having cancer in both lungs, we probably should. Anyone fighting a disease like that is hardly a scared mind numbed rabbit!

@Nimbus we are barely human these days! 😢😢

@JimboSaturn govt cant declare an emergency, then they create the emergency to get sheeple to follow
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Because statistically only 2/3 of the population of any nation has had the required number of required covid jabs.
This is because governments are STILL hopeful that Herd Immunity actually works !

Unfortunately it also means that unscrupulous employers whose majority of workforce are thirty-five or under have no protection from several covid variants.

eg: they may have had one or two jabs where the majority may have had four or five.
Thus they catch covid regularly.
And while for some that just means a week off work until they test negative again, for others it means they have to cope with that on top of pre-existing conditions which means their children have to stay home too......and so the cycle goes on
gol979 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2 the people who had no injections and didnt wear masks seem to be doing very well. Theres a big fat mrna elephant in the room
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@gol979 no evidence for that statement.
Just conjective opinion.
Might be true if you live out in the country in some places but certainly isn't if you're in an overcrowded city
gol979 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2 theres plenty of evidence. Why dont you ask people who didnt have any covid injections? Whats driving unprecedented excess deaths at this point in time? Why dont you ask the people who are sick/injured/killed because of the covid injection (theres a few in this thread)?

Address the mrna elephant in the room and you will see the evidence staring you in the face.
WillaKissing · 56-60
Sheeple!

Hey, if you have a serious medical condition, I understand, and please do what you need too.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@WillaKissing correct. I never said you should have a liberal or any other belief. I just hate name calling and making someone feel lesser for living on their own terms as you call it.

@zonavar68 So many rules, so much conflict.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
It’s not just for Covid and no one is forcing them. Pneumonia and RSV along with other nasty viruses are in full force right now. Maybe they want to enjoy the holidays instead of being sick!
Nimbus · M
@Handfull1 Good point 👍
RubySoo · 56-60, F
More and more people are wearing them here again, especially the staff in the shops now its busier.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@RubySoo Sadly I can understand that. People have no problems shopping while being sick. I still remember this one family growing up. They made their kids go to school coughing with a hundred and two degree temperature. That's fahrenheit.
ArtieKat · M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales I still occasionally see people in supermarkets with a mask on but very rare. I only noticed a week ago that Aldi have taken down the screens round their checkout staff
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@RubySoo I've seen several shop workers here lately wearing them.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
The detrimental shutdown of our economy and mandated quarantine had no significant effect on spread of covid just as the masks provided no protection

I think that people have become hyperaware that viruses could possibly be spread by coughs and sneezes. It has been that way in Japan during colds and flu season for a couple of decades, because they are pretty crowded over there. Out come the masks when the viruses are going around.

I wear a mask at times when I go to my doctors office, because I have asthma, and the least little breeze blowing dust at me will trigger coughing. And you should SEE the looks you get, even masked, if you start coughing.
Nimbus · M
@4meAndyou Great answer :)

Although Ugly Itis isn't transmissible via contact, it can cause severe visual impairment to others. Therefore it is recommended that all individuals who have Ugly Itis wear a mask.
Nimbus · M
@shuhak Will face cream help?
shuhak · M
@Nimbus You mean vanishing cream.
People have a poor attitude towards personal hygiene.

Because they cannot see viruses they think they are not there.

Few wash their hands frequently, yet touch everything. They cough in peoples faces, sneeze everywhere.

And I’m told female toilets are often left in a disgusting state.

Masks are being worn because Covid is coming back with a vengeance just like Doctor Fauci said it would happen in 2024.

Unlike the USA, Canada still makes public knowledge the daily Covid cases that come into each hospital. Covid no longer made the headline news until recently, but the daily stats are available for those so interested.

Covid and now RSV are making headline news again in Canada because Covid in particular, has dramatically resurged over the past few months, but is now overwhelming hospitals from coast to coast far beyond what was happening in Canada at the height of the pandemic.

Just this morning, the Chief Medical Officer at the Toronto General Hospital got on TV and implored people not to come to the hospital because his hospital is overwhelmed with new Covid patients coming in daily.

Those who show up anyway are being lined up on stretchers in the hallways or being treated in the backs of ambulances that line up in the parking lot, or are simply being turned away at the door if they show up in their own.

The exact same thing is happening just a quick hop across the Canada/US border from Toronto, but it's 10 times worse in the USA with 10 times the population than Canada has. This is because a huge percentage of Americans have not ever been vaccinated even once for Covid or RSV from the outset of the pandemic which started in 2019.

Unfortunately, the US government hides this information from the general American public as everyone walks around like dumb sheep thinking life in the USA is the best you'll ever find in the world.

Why then, did the Canadian Government along with 7 other Nations issue travel advisories to it's citizens to avoid all travel to any part of the USA if non-emergency travel could be avoided?

Sorry for the wakeup call America, but Europe is in the same boat you are because Covid data is hidden from the general public just like it is in the USA.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@swirlie Ok. I wasn't aware you were red pilled.

So I have multiple friends and family members in the hospital industry, including nurses who work in hospitals all over the East Coast. They refute what you are saying. They do admit that Covid cases are up, as well as other upper respiratory illnesses. But people being turned away? Stuck on the floor? Stuck in ambulances?

You don't know what you are talking about. Maybe Canada has that problem(although again, your press doesn't support what you say) but not the US.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@SumKindaMunster
It's all across North America and Europe my friend, it's actually your reliable sources who don't have a clue what they're feeding you as knowledge.

You really need to stop visiting those right-wing extremist websites you've been gathering your health information from Herman because they're no longer being funded by Donald J. Trump since he's now broke.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@swirlie Anything relevant regarding the discussion and my informed debunking of your nonsense?

You're not even responding to what I said, just posting a word salad of desperate attempts to insult me and take the focus off your bullshit.

Did HippyJoe take over your account?

@Handfull1 I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ Some people have to insult others for something.

Even if there wasn't a reason, I don't understand why people care.
