Growing up, my parents always taught me to say "thank you" and "you're welcome" to people. Why doesn't the younger generation seem to do that anymore

I don't think it's a generational thing, there are plenty of people of all ages who are not polite or considerate of others. I was taught good manners, but I find the rudest people tend to concentrated in the older generation which taught me them 🤷‍♀

Yea the habit is very effective in getting ppl to cooperate and act nice. I wanna say todays overprivledge and instant mentality has resulted in lack of etiquette instead assumption of service to be recieved?

I find people as polite and rude as ever, and age has little to do with it.

I'm polite and avoid those who aren't

I've taught my kid manners and respect and that if he wants respect from others he needs to show respect to others

I know people always complained about the youth of the day but there's seriously a lack of over all social skills in a lot of kids today.
Interaction is just being changed and in many cases denied from the interwebz.

I don't think kids are ruder than they were when we were kids just people don't really interact socially the same way anymore and it reflects more in the youth.

@MethDozer Interesting. I didn't think about it that way, but it's true.

These so called Gen Zs make me feel grateful that thanks goodness I don’t belong to this group.
JimFarris16 · 22-25, M
You're welcome is not really as necessary.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
@JimFarris16 It's not? Why do you feel that way?
JimFarris16 · 22-25, M
@HowtoDestroyAngels Thank you just seems more important, you have to say that, you're welcome just seems like a bonus.
