Growing up, my parents always taught me to say "thank you" and "you're welcome" to people. Why doesn't the younger generation seem to do that anymore

Yea the habit is very effective in getting ppl to cooperate and act nice. I wanna say todays overprivledge and instant mentality has resulted in lack of etiquette instead assumption of service to be recieved?
