What is a BBQ to you?

Well….despite what’s cooking, I am pretty sure nobody invites people over for a microwave 🤷‍♀️

To me it's about the good food such as hotdogs/sausages/burgers, salad, sandwiches, drinks such as beer, wine, juices, soft drinks and the good people I'm with.

To have BBQ you must smoke meat over various types of heat sources but always have wood included to smoke the food. Typically low and slow, but not always.

You can BBQ nearly anything, Meat, fish, veggies, fruit, tofu (must squeeze as much moisture out of tofu)

If they are HAVING a bar-b-cue you are having burgers and dogs. If they are GOING to bar-b-cue then you are eating BBQ.

BBQ for me is robs(oven baked- did ‘m after watching a video. Amazing!) Burgers, dogs and salads( macaroni and red skin and regular potato salads, fried chicken wings and buffalo style.

Growing up in Georgia, BBQ to me is either pork or chicken smoked over hickory, but since I moved to Texas, I have to include brisket. It's not burgers and dogs.

You're being too literal. They invited you to a cookout, and a lot of people refer to a cookout as a BBQ.

It all depends on wording. If you are invited TO a BBQ, it involves any meat cooked on an outdoor grill. If you are invited FOR BBQ, it involves eating smoked meat, whether pork or beef, oftentimes ribs and other times slabs of meat, whether pulled or not.

Barbeque Latin for "Beard to Tail". Can be anything you choose to cook over open flame. I think if I were you I would have preferred ribeye steak to tube steak but so long as it was fun.

For parties the term BBQ replaced Cookout. So if they had a grill it's a BBQ. Even though they didn't actually BBQ anything.

Yeah...there's BBQ (pulled pork, brisket, ribs, etc.) and then there's a BBQ where someone cooks stuff on a grill - which ain't real BBQ.
