I know it's not the point of the meme but

Do you think things like this are contributing to obesity
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
MSG and artificial sweeteners that are appetite stimulants doping up processed and restaurant foods, it’s a dirty trick
Hybridized grains that cause inflammation and mess with metabolism
Larger portion sizes
All-You-Can-Eat-Buffets
Easy to Grab and Cook Microwave Meals
Fast Food Restaurants littering towns and cities everywhere, instant gratification
Food Stamps that can be used for sweets and other junk foods and soft drinks instead of limiting them to healthier foods
Sugar being added to foods like spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, bread, etc. Eating sugar creates hunger hormones which create more overeating and eating more sugar.
Neurotransmitter imbalance, especially low dopamine which causes craving of junk food.
Toxins such as chlorine in water that inflame and slow down thyroid function.

Also low-fat diets contributed to the obesity problem. Low-fat foods were adding extra carbs instead of fats while the medical establishment and mass media was pounding how dangerous fats in the diet were to human health. Healthy fats help to fuel the metabolism.

@cherokeepatti preach!
A tray of food contributing to obesity???

No, the tray of food is a tray of food... education (or lack of) is what is contributing to obesity.

Children in schools are taught more about how to bake biscuits, cakes and how to make food packaging than they are taught about how to make nutritionally balanced meals.

Why don't we take the time to teach children things like how to batch cook healthy meals or preserve fruit and vegetables for later use in future meals??? Taking the time to foster enjoyment of cooking from teenage years will reduce the overall consumption of takeaway meals and other unhealthy alternatives.

Oddly enough, I am still awaiting the opportunity to be summoned by a company to design their pizza box for them (a module I needed to pass to graduate high school).

@HootyTheNightOwl I always advise people
eat for what you are about to do, not for what you've done
@Ferric67 You might feel differently if I told you that the last time I ate a vegetable was Christmas... that's how tightly soon to be ex has restricted my diet.

The whole laugh of it is that it's not because there are no vegetables to eat... I blanched and froze loads of vegetables in the days before Christmas - and Christmas Dinner remains the only meal that they were eaten.

I crave to eat vegetables in the same way most people crave a chocolate treat.
Ferric67 · M
@HootyTheNightOwl high Fiberous veggies should constitute 75% of the dinner plate
Processed food yes.
Sugar in everything we eat, yes.
Portion sizes? maybe. Everyone eats differently so it's hard to say, that looks like food for three days to me.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@nonsensiclesnail yea first picture, I wouldn’t be able to eat all that on my own before it went bad
@WaryWitchWandering Me either! I wouldn't even try though. Lots of food always .... turns me off of it? Like big holiday dinners, I cant get myself to eat them most of the time. And I am by no means a skinny little thing. I've never been into food.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I think "super-sizing" was one of the biggest factors.
@Pretzel As well as $0.39 super gulps at 7/11
InstructHer · 56-60, M
Not cooking your own food is the problem.
Madmonk · M
Both are pure poison. They want you fat sick and dead. Easily manipulated and controlled.
Madmonk · M
@SW-User fish good. Vegetables are good food for starving people

Pasta sugar processed foods pretty much anything touched by man is a ticket to pain and suffering.
@Madmonk Then why did you claim the $200 food is poison?
PatKirby · M
@Madmonk

They want you fat sick and dead.

Each of these has a thriving industry that depends on them for survival and profit$.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
I'd say that lack of exercise also contributes
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Mudkip yeah so many are spoilt with labor saving conveniences these days and electronics keep us indoors quite a bit. I remember having to fetch buckets of water and carrying them in the house in one village where we lived when I was 8 year old, helping carry firewood from the wagon to the house, working in the garden like an adult. In the summer we children were free to roam the village and would walk for miles to pass the summer afternoons away after the chores were done. We didn’t even bring water and I don’t know why we didn’t get so thirsty. There was always my grandpa’s hand-pump well out behind his house when we got back to the village. We also had to walk back and forth to the school bus stop every day. And got sent to the village store to fetch things needed for cooking. And sometimes would walk over to neighbors for a short visit. Only got two good channels on tv so no temptation to stay inside and watch tv all day.
rootbeardy · M
I think the lack of root beer in everyone’s lives is the main contributing factor to obesity and weight gains.

Without root beer the stomach will never feel satiated and will constantly crave more calories to fill the void of sweet delicious root berry goodness!
Puttywood · 61-69, M
Im sure it's some of it. But we are to blame also. We don't get the exercise we used to ,we chose to eat for entertainment and not just for food to take care of ourselves.

Redbeard · 56-60, M
Comfort food is the number one contribitor to obesity, especially when its almost available 24/7.
matthewjames · 18-21, M
I like Chinese! the other one looks yuuuk anyways
Canola oils and lack of exercise
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout High fructose corn syrup is the bigger factor over canola oil.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Cheap food is exactly that...
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Who the f#ck is paying $200 for a meal?
jehova · 31-35, M
Very likely
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yes I think so.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
DDonde · 31-35, M
I think partially definitely. A lot of people don't understand the portion sizes they're eating.
There's more going on than just that but it definitely contributes.
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
when you see what 10 lousy bucks gets you at McDonald's nowadays, no 🤏
MonaReeves86 · 36-40, F
Yes this is the new ep
When bad food is far cheaper than quality food, yes
