Former UK Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn Refuses to Condemn Hamas

Jeremy Corbyn refuses to condemn Hamas after militant group carries out deadly attack on Israel

Jeremy Corbyn has refused to condemn Hamas after militants stormed settlements in southern Israel, killing and taking hostage both soldiers and civilians in a surprise attack.

The former Labour leader said “all attacks are wrong” and repeated his call for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine. “Which, of course, is fundamentally the background to the whole issue,” Mr Corbyn said.

“I don’t support any attacks, therefore I criticise them all,” he added.

However, asked by ITV News, Mr Corbyn stopped short of directly condemning the terrorist group he previously called “friends” – comments he later said he regretted.

(...)

“We need an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation,” he said. And he called for Israel to end its occupation of Palestine as “the only means of achieving a just and lasting peace”.

His hatred against Jews makes it impossible for him to condemn the horrible attacks of those deadly killers against innocent people (and concert goers). 😕
one thing the Neo Nazis on the right and the Jew haters on the left have in common....... their hatred of Israel. its a disease that poisons both the left and the right.

@SW-User And anyone with a full brain can see it's not that simple.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@YourMomsSecretCrush The vast majority of people on the right, stand with Israel.
Not so with the Democrats.
Most of the classic Liberal Dems stand with Israel, but most of the progressives do not.
SW-User
@DogMan correct
Bumbles · 51-55, M
He’s not alone. The US has a congresswoman who won’t condemn Hamas, and many “good leftists” on SW won’t either. I think it’s become an essential point of being on the left.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Emosaur @helenS @Bumbles I too am a Leftist. I'm no fan of Israel and Netanyahu specifically has been antagonizing Palestinians for a long time. But I thoroughly condemn the attacks made by Hamas.

As I had stated in another post. There are no good guys in that conflict, but there are a whole lot of innocents paying with their lives.
Ynotisay · M
@Bumbles Or maybe it's about nuance and understanding the landscape. I don't think you can point to one person in government that has come out in support of Hamas. But maybe I'm wrong. So if you could share that statement where an elected official clearly supports HAMAS, not the Palestinian people, I'd be really interested. Thanks in advance.
senghenydd · M
@ViciDraco I agree with you absolutely - " There are no good guys in this conflict".
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I love the semantics of this war. Today we hear that Hamas we ill release 50 weeks man and children although, according to some newscasters if that actually happens, and is carried in Arab press, it will be the first the viewers will learn that innocent civilians were captured, they have only reported that soldiers were captured. Also even Israel is saying they are releasing women and children, not that they are releasing convicted terrorists, people "we with blood on their hands!". These are all people who threw bombs, stabbed people, even crimes short of killing someone, but all caught, charged, tried and convicted of serious terrorist activity. Compare those to the hostages Hamas will release, all innocent civilians!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan The media coverage is very asymmetrical. Hamas sends rockets, Israel missiles. Hamas is sworn to kill all the Jews and destroy Israel, Israel just wants to exist.
ArtieKat · M
@samueltyler2
i really am very confused by the use of the term refugee in Gaza.
Me too. I had assumed that the so-called "refugee camps" were tented places with no permanent structures - not houses, with shops, permanent schools, healthcare facilities etc.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ArtieKat it's use just serves to keep the misinformation alive and hatred continues to flourish.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
Corbyn is the lowest form of life in the Western world.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Thinkerbell Thank you – I asked the original poster to provide the source of that information because I find it hard to believe.
SW-User
@Thinkerbell Corbyn at least had the guts to face electoral defeat. I certainly did not vote for him.
Sunak has not shown similar respect for the British electorate. No one elected him. So I rate him worse. And if he does eventually face the British public, I will not vote for him either.

So we are left with that hopeless Starmer. Gosh , what a nightmare.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User
No one elected him (=Sunak).
True.
Neoerectus · M
Hamas was wrong to kill innocent civilians. Israel has been wrongly occupying Palestine and killing innocent civilians for decades. One caused the other.
SW-User
I condemn the attacks utterly.

But far too many people on this site, and the world in general, seem to think that Israel is an innocent victim and has done nothing wrong EVER.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User I'm not a racist, but
I'm not against women in business, but
I condemn the attacks utterly but
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@SW-User haha nobody thinks that. it's impossible to never do anything 'wrong '. it's a matter of degree.
DogMan · 61-69, M
What do the Palestinians and Progressives mean when they shout "from the river,
to the sea" Is that a call for genocide of the Israeli people?
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Everything said here, is relevant to the question. Including the things you said.
and I appreciate your input.

Everyone sees things a little different, I'm sure there are many things that we do agree on
Slade · 56-60, M
@DogMan I certainly know that. I was illustrating how useless the prize is
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Slade exactly, that is how I read it. 👍
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Jeremy Corbyn being a spineless hack is nothing new
theyre not allowed to have an opinion outside the mainstream narrative..

the club..
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User Name a few anti-Hamas protests in Gaza since 2006, please.
SW-User
@helenS I can't, because there have been none.

But then again, there haven't been any anti-Conservative party protests on the street in the UK since they took power in 2010 either.

By your logic, all Brits are Conservative.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User No anti-Tory rallies in London since 2010?? Come on! 😏

The msn has no shame: and that’s why his run for leadership was labours worst defeat since 1935.
helenS · 36-40, F
@WintaTheAngle What's msn please?
edit: Ah ok sorry it's "man".
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
How are you going to resolve a 3,000 year old war when the group responsible is in every other Arab nation from Syria on down to Egypt?

Palestine is just where that war is taken place. It's not where Hamas really is centered.

That is why Israel was gone from the whole area centuries before WWII. They were kicked out.
helenS · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer Sorry but I don't get your point. Are you saying you are not surprised the Jews were "kicked out" of Palestine because they resisted the colonization by the Roman Empire???
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@helenS even the Romans had help! They couldn't do it by themselves even.

It's unresolvable.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
Israel is evil. An illegal country created in 1948.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Slade We (the western world) have no place in middle-east politics and religious wars.
Slade · 56-60, M
@zonavar68 Bullshit. How soft are you?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@zonavar68 do we "have a place" in any war?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
it isn't a "militant group," it is an organized terrorist group! semantics are important.
helenS · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 Fully agree with you. My post was a quote from The Independent (not my own words).
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helenS the semantics of the Middle East has always been very biased. the Arab League and Hamas have always spoken about killing Jews, pushing Israel into the sea! The media has always used words like rockets, not missiles, militants, not terrorists! It has numbed people to the dangers over the years.
helenS · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 In my own words (last sentence of my post) I called them "deadly killers".
I've been a supporter of "honestReporting" for a long time, and donated hundreds of dollars.

Mr Corbyn is entitled to his opinion.

I would not vote Labour whilst he was leader.
senghenydd · M
@SW-User I'm glad I don't live anywhere near any war torn regions, I appreciate the peaceful life I have.
SW-User
@senghenydd It was not fun in the Irish troubles.
senghenydd · M
@SW-User I have sympathy for anyone living in a war-torn area life is so precious and short.
In an interview yesterday presidential candidate Nikki Halley here refused to say trump was wrong when he said if elected his first duty would be to murder Milley.......the head of our military.

Ignorance is spreading. Not one Republican denounced that bit of ignorance when trump said it....or when Halley said she supported trump and what he says.

Killing anyone in their way...or critical of them..... is now obviously the new Republican platform.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
How he got to be labour leader is beyond me
helenS · 36-40, F
@TheWildEcho Perhaps a relevant segment of Labour party members supports his positions?
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@helenS very likely
Ceinwyn · 26-30, F
And that why the British public deem him unelectable
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
I'm surprised they're even asking for his opinion. Getting a politician to answer a straight question is like trying to pull their tooth out with a pair of pliers. Sometimes the pliers may be more appropriate than bothering to ask a question. Just my opinion.
helenS · 36-40, F
@PhilDeep Well I mean he could have condemned the attacks couldn't he.
Slade · 56-60, M
He is a first class POS.

THE END
Slade · 56-60, M
Bidet Biden's ex Iran envoy has authorized between $50 to $80 billion to Iran. A country explicitly yearning for our destruction.

EVERYONE associated with this horrible, execreable regime should be made into dog food

all violence is wrong, no rational person will condemn in this situation because they're both guilty of exactly the same crime

No surprises there.

Typical of people in politics!!!
