Former UK Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn Refuses to Condemn Hamas

Jeremy Corbyn refuses to condemn Hamas after militant group carries out deadly attack on Israel

Jeremy Corbyn has refused to condemn Hamas after militants stormed settlements in southern Israel, killing and taking hostage both soldiers and civilians in a surprise attack.

The former Labour leader said “all attacks are wrong” and repeated his call for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine. “Which, of course, is fundamentally the background to the whole issue,” Mr Corbyn said.

“I don’t support any attacks, therefore I criticise them all,” he added.

However, asked by ITV News, Mr Corbyn stopped short of directly condemning the terrorist group he previously called “friends” – comments he later said he regretted.

(...)

“We need an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation,” he said. And he called for Israel to end its occupation of Palestine as “the only means of achieving a just and lasting peace”.

His hatred against Jews makes it impossible for him to condemn the horrible attacks of those deadly killers against innocent people (and concert goers). 😕

I love the semantics of this war. Today we hear that Hamas we ill release 50 weeks man and children although, according to some newscasters if that actually happens, and is carried in Arab press, it will be the first the viewers will learn that innocent civilians were captured, they have only reported that soldiers were captured. Also even Israel is saying they are releasing women and children, not that they are releasing convicted terrorists, people "we with blood on their hands!". These are all people who threw bombs, stabbed people, even crimes short of killing someone, but all caught, charged, tried and convicted of serious terrorist activity. Compare those to the hostages Hamas will release, all innocent civilians!

@samueltyler2 Nobody plays the victim card as perfect as the so-called "Palestinians". It's sad that even Israel follows their rhetoric. 😐

@helenS when did the descriptive turn from Arab to Palestinian anyway?
helenS · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 That must have been as early as 1949, when the UNRWA was founded and the "Palestinian refugee" was invented. There were about 600,000 "refugees" in 1948; they have become a whopping 5.6 million people in 2019; must be there are > 6,000,000 today. If the grandson of a 1948 emigrant adopts a child, that child will be a "refugee" too, did you know that?

@helenS i really am very confused by the use of the term refugee in Gaza. Why hasn't Gaza accepted them? It is probably an attempt by the terrorists to keep the people angry.

@samueltyler2 Doesn't seem fair does it? Innocent captured women and children, in exchange for
convicted terrorists, that will probably be putting on suicide vests to kill more women and
children.

@DogMan The media coverage is very asymmetrical. Hamas sends rockets, Israel missiles. Hamas is sworn to kill all the Jews and destroy Israel, Israel just wants to exist.

Me too. I had assumed that the so-called "refugee camps" were tented places with no permanent structures - not houses, with shops, permanent schools, healthcare facilities etc.

@ArtieKat it's use just serves to keep the misinformation alive and hatred continues to flourish.
