Jeremy Corbyn refuses to condemn Hamas after militant group carries out deadly attack on Israel

Jeremy Corbyn has refused to condemn Hamas after militants stormed settlements in southern Israel, killing and taking hostage both soldiers and civilians in a surprise attack.

The former Labour leader said “all attacks are wrong” and repeated his call for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine. “Which, of course, is fundamentally the background to the whole issue,” Mr Corbyn said.

“I don’t support any attacks, therefore I criticise them all,” he added.

However, asked by ITV News, Mr Corbyn stopped short of directly condemning the terrorist group he previously called “friends” – comments he later said he regretted.

“We need an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation,” he said. And he called for Israel to end its occupation of Palestine as “the only means of achieving a just and lasting peace”.

His hatred against Jews makes it impossible for him to condemn the horrible attacks of those deadly killers against innocent people (and concert goers). 😕

@YourMomsSecretCrush I wonder what went wrong with the left. They are "friends of the Palestinian people" and they hate the only democracy in the Middle East. Yes it's a flawed democracy but can anyone name a perfect one?

@SW-User 2,000,000 people of Arab descent are citizens of the State of Israel. They can vote, they can run for any office they want to, become teachers, professors, police officers, etc. About 7,000,000 people are Jewish.

I condemn the attacks by Hamas utterly. But this was coming. The Israeli government brought this upon itself.

@SW-User But you neglect to point out that, you mean the Hamas terrorists who lobbed countless number of missiles across into Israeli families, homes, schools, almost on a daily basis! Calling them rockets, makes them sound innocuous, but they killed and injured civilians. The Israeli citizens lived in daily fear ever since the country came into existence. Many, if not most, Israeli homes had to build into it "safe rooms." Is that something you do unless you are in fear of an invasion into your home by terrorists?

The Arab league then Hamas's long-range goal has always been the same, kill all the Jews and eliminate the state of Israel! If the Israeli government is to blame for anything, it is that it missed the signs this was coming.

Not so with the Democrats.
Most of the classic Liberal Dems stand with Israel, but most of the progressives do not.
