When you think of Australia what do you think of ?

Koalas and this, always this……

@zonavar68 Couldn’t disagree with you more but thanks for stopping in to pee on my memories. 👍
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@OlderSometimesWiser 8-) My pleasure. This proves beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. There's nothing worse that dating site profiles having pics of people clearly of asian or european origin claiming to be aussie's but have pics of themselves with the harbour bridge and/or opera house in the background. Makes one's perception of Sydney as a living city pretty jaded, esp when the median house price in Sydney (as a big metropolis not just the CBD and surrounds) these days is around A$1.5 to 2 million dollars

I've lived in Australia since birth so I'm pretty ok with the place. Best way to think of it. Country is about the same size as mainland US with 1/10th the population, and 70 percent of the population lives in a band 100 km from the east coast starting roughly half way up the Queensland coast all the way to Melbourne in VIC and a little further around. The other 30 pct sparsely occupies the remainder of the country. Australia is the only true country-continent (ie. a single continental shelf projection above sea level defined as one country).

Sapio · 51-55, M
The huntsman and funnel web spiders. I also think of road trains.
Sapio · 51-55, M
@Nimbus the huntsman's venom is harmless to humans but the funnel web's can be fatal.
Nimbus · M
@Sapio Interesting to know though I will never encounter one :)
craig7 · 70-79, M
@Sapio Huntsmen spiders give a nasty painful bite though not potentially fatal, and, unlike funnel webs, are not aggressive.

@CestManan The more you listen the easier it gets.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Nimbus Yeah I would imagine.
I should be used to various accents, most of the time I talk with French people on the phone and at my old job, few of our customers had an American accent.

I worked with a man who was from Australia, accent and all, real good guy, older gent. Always said, "G'day" 😄

Tweakers. And beer.
Actually, I'm just being snarky. I also think of the guy who played Crokadile Dundee. He had a funny T.V. show in the 70s & 80s I used to watch on BBC as a kid. Was the Australian Benny Hill.
And the Australian contributions to the various American ear efforts. I'd be curlish to ignore them.
