I don't rule out countries as much as situations. We had a great trip planned where I was taking my mother to visit her ancestral home in the Azores and my wife was taking her mother back to visit Sicily, and then we were rendezvousing in Rome, putting the mothers on a plane home and touring Europe a bit on our own. When Reagan bombed Libya and we decided it might become a war zone and not a place to have our mothers.

All irrelevant these days. At 85 with two cancers, limited stamina, no travel partner and an expired passport that would be a hassle to resurrect, I ain't goin' nowhere as much as I would like to.

Unfortunately there are lots of places that are not high on the travel list though there are things I would like to see.
Danger can range from disease, piracy, political issues, and just plain being so ungodly remote.

It sucks seeing what it's become now when you've seen firsthand how lovely it was before
