The mayor of Oklahoma City is trying to turn the business owners into mask enforcers...

They will lose my business forever when that happens.
curiosi · 61-69, F
1930's Germany happening and many don't see it.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@hippyjoe1955 You're comparing a military suit specific of a regime, to a personal protection device that is adopted worldwide to reduce the chance of infecting people with a potentially fatal disease.

I think the average citizen and not necessarily German would kick your ass for comparing living under Nazism to covering your filthy front hole.

Especially when actual nazis tend to side with the political group that opposes masks, lol
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Elessar I am comparing practices not some contorted ideology. If it walks like a duck and quacks like duck. Thus it was that the heroes in my family that went to fight in Europe didn't fight an ideology. They fought totalitarianism. Silly people like you can't seem to understand the totalitarian urge and try to ascribe it to this ideology or that ideology. The result is the same. One ideology blends with another.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@hippyjoe1955 You totally ignore what Nazism is. Having to temporarily wear a mask to reduce the effects of a pandemic is a thing, Nazism is a completely different matter. Your mental gymnastics is irrelevant to my point.

Waving a Nazi flag in 2020 means identifying with and agreeing with the core principles of totalitarianism, Nazism specifically.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I would prefer to go to that business above all others knowing they care about me.
@Keepitsimple the free market at work
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@questionWeaver Yep! I’m grateful that they are proactive. 👍
Haven’t we just been through all this with saloon owners and tattoo artists?
Violation of ppls constitutional rights?

Short memories?
deadgerbil · 22-25
@cherokeepatti a 'cold virus' is a slightly misleading way of putting it. This variety of covid is many times more lethal than the one that causes the cold.

At any rate, it is accurate to say that society as a whole dismissed the flu as whatever. In fact, there's a new type of flu that has pandemic potential.

BBC News - Flu virus with 'pandemic potential' found in China
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53218704

Just because people turn a blind eye to this doesn't mean you and others have to bury your head in the sand with respect to covid.
@deadgerbil blocked for being a troll
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@deadgerbil of course, cause COVID19 hasn’t done the trick yet.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
There really isn't enough proof for or against masks. But the facts are that masks make my shitty exhalation be less so I will wear a mask in public.

Now when the state mandates I do something I get a little confused because generally the state just looks out for itself.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti If a mask is uncomfortable, imagine a polmunary ventilator. Doctors wear them all the time and none died of hypoxia.

@hippyjoe1955 Too bad apparently perfectly healthy people spread it the most 2 to max 4 days before displaying the very first symptoms.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Elessar I don’t have to imagine, I can’t even sleep with a light blanket over my head anymore.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti I feel you, asthma is a b*tch. In my case allergic.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Businesses require you to wear pants. What's the difference?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BlueMetalChick You know when the pedos are rounded up and arrested this virus will be resolved. They are scared shitless right now with all the sealed federal indictments in this country. People are being arrested and hauled off & tried, it just hasn’t made the news yet. This is one more way to stop Trump from carrying out his promise to drain the swamp. No one else was willing to do it before.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@BlueMetalChick Yeah until some old fat person is walking around bare ass'ed. THAT would make people sick.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@cherokeepatti So, then what you're telling me is, it's acceptable for a business to demand you to wear a particular item of clothing if it's dangerous not to, such as pants to prevent pedophiles from displaying their genitals to children.

What about shoes? Most businesses operate on "no shirt, no shoes, no service." Are you worried about pedophiles showing their dirty to feet to some kid?

And if it's acceptable for them to require pants to shop at their store because it's dangerous not to, then that would in turn mean you also have to condone a mask requirement because...it's dangerous not to. Or did you make an exception for that?
4meAndyou · F
You would hate Massachusetts. We are mandated to wear masks at all times by our Governor, whenever we are in public. Yesterday, for the first time since this started, we had ZERO deaths from Covid19.

All businesses in Massachusetts have security guards outside to make sure that all who enter are wearing masks...of course, yesterday, the security guard was so busy texting and looking at his phone I could have marched about 100 non-masked people into Stop and Shop right past him. 😂

I don't know, Patti...I kind of like the idea that my grocery store doesn't have bakery goods and fresh veggies that have been coughed upon, sneezed upon, or otherwise fouled by sick people.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou they are hanging onto the produce as long as they can, maybe they’ve lost money. But they’ve lost a great deal of business from me because of it. We got a bag of baby cucumbers and opened them up and every one had rotten spots on it. They made a policy of no refunds and put a big sign up and that’s why people are not buying very much from there. But we got our money back, it would have gotten ugly, they were over $3.50 for the bag.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti We used to buy reduced for quick sale stuff, but not if it was that bad. I can remember buying red and green peppers with only one rotten spot in the package...or fruit...the same way. I used to take my paring knife and cut the spot out completely...but that stuff had to be prepared the same day it was purchased.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou yeah that sounds good, I’m talking about grapes with dents on them and rotted spots too. They are too far gone to buy & take home to eat.
Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
It’s a pandemic you morons! Just a mask, if we all do our part it’ll be back to normal soon enough
AbbySvenz · F
Sure I do, but you just said elsewhere that the hospitals have been faking their records so they can get $$ from the government. Where do you think those public records people get the numbers to report deaths? @cherokeepatti
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbySvenz Can I ask you a question? What country are you from?
AbbySvenz · F
I live in the US, in one of the states undergoing a huge Covid surge right now@cherokeepatti
deadgerbil · 22-25
Fair enough, I get annoyed sometimes having to wear one and there are some reasons to avoid wearing them, as mentioned at the end of this article

https://www.bbc.com/news/53108405

However, the article also dispels many false notions people have been spreading about masks, and for people to see this as a some big constitutional rights violation goes to show they don't know what they're talking about.

And as to how Nazi Germany gets inserted into this, it appears they're as equally confused about history. Maybe they see a mask as the star of David Jews were forced to wear.

It'll be entertaining when a vaccine comes out. Lots of people will balk at the idea of getting one and will find refuge in the antivaxxing craze that this anti mask sentiment is mirroring.
Just scream BLM and set fire to something..
AbbySvenz · F
My newspaper reported daily on COVID-19. Still does.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti covid typically got like one minute's worth of coverage on the news during the riots. Usually just a "so many died of covid today. Now back to the protests."
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbySvenz Of course, they are media. I’m more interested in what the families say. If those people were already on their death bed from something else it would be easy for a nursing home, who doesn’t allow visitors now, to say they died of COVID even if they only had a few days to live as it was.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
You aren't a fan of keeping other people safer by wearing a mask?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle I hope you enjoy wearing one. I know I am enjoying not wearing one. I don't have covid either. Therefore me wearing a mask is pretty pointless. I don't have a disease to give.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 You don't know you don't have it. Also not wearing a mask may increase your chance of catching it.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Yes I do. I have been tested several times a week.
SmartKat · 56-60, F
What if somebody used his Second Amendment right on another person who got up close to him without a mask?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou i have a laptop but it’s a hassle.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti Ah. I keep mine set up as though it were a keyboard modem combo attached to a tower...like at work. Comcast sucks so bad nothing works when I try to move it or use it as it was meant to be used. I had our Geek squad come in and do it all for me, and they couldn't get it to work. Tells you something about Comcast...don't ever get it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I won’t, think I researched it.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Just make it...no shirt...no shoes ...no mask no entry!

Ya know wearing a mask isnt pleasant but it isnt death...not wearing a mask can cause some one or yourself to die....that is death!!!
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
It still makes sense though cherokeepatti the way the virus is spreading
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PTCdresser57 What i dont understand is why doctors & nurses are being laid off because the hospitals don’t have enough patients yet the media is saying hospitalizations are increasing. It’s like they are contradicting themselves or something.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
It all has to due to if they are certified to do a certain job cherokeepatti..plus slot of hospitals arent doing elective surgeries which is causing layoffs.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I say let them, contingent on an agreement that they receive no federal aid/funding when their businesses fail and local economy plummets...
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Our health department just got denied a injunction to stop a mask burning on the fourth
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MarineBob shouldn’t have announced it so much, just do it.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti wanted the judge to put a hold on all lawsuits
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
They should force it
Elessar · 26-30, M
@MarineBob And the others will praise a man who thought of injecting bleach in people?

@smileylovesgaming Compulsory and the offenders fined, something like $700 each time one is caught without, and in a week or tho the whole debate ends, with everyone reasons not to wear them suddenly disappearing.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MarineBob There have been people having to get steroids for their lungs because they are breathing in so many of their recycled germs and not enough fresh air, and impetigo on their face, the staph germs from sinuses can lay on the skin and cause infection.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@smileylovesgaming they want people to voluntary do it so they don’t get their asses sued off. There are already lawsuits being drawn up.
eMortal · M
It's already the case in California.
smiler2012 · 56-60
cherokeepatti not if it made a law and enforced to the letter but you will get them who will say it is against the freedom of choice and human rights although it is for there protection but some do not get it corona virus is still around and kills
