The mayor of Oklahoma City is trying to turn the business owners into mask enforcers...

They will lose my business forever when that happens.

You aren't a fan of keeping other people safer by wearing a mask?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Entwistle I’m not a fan of healthy people wearing masks.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti How do you know they are healthy?

@Entwistle How do you know they aren’t?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle I know I am healthy. If I put a mask on I start breathing in the stuff I would normally get rid of. I start to suffer from oxygen deprivation. I have an increase in blood pressure. I have a a heart that has to work much harder. It is not healthy for me and I would far sooner risk getting an illness than suffering the effects of a mask that simply doesn't work as advertized.

@hippyjoe1955 So no thought of other people then? Also you don't know or can't be certain you are healthy.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti Better to be safe than sorry..is it not?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle By not wearing a mask being safer than wearing one yes I agree.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 I disagree.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Then wear your mask like a silly clown and leave the rest of us alone!

@Entwistle “When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better, and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is,” Fauci said in March. “And often there are unintended consequences—people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.” Dr Fauci

@hippyjoe1955 If it reduces risk then it's a good thing. Nobody said it's perfect.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle It doesn't reduce risk. There is no statistical or analytical study indicating wearing a mask makes any difference. Right now we don't even know who has had the virus. Not to mention which in the US where there is high mask usage there at present is a spike in infections. Hmmmmm
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 It reduces the risk of spreading anything airborne. Less particles in the air means less risk.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Does not wearing one reduce the risk of corona spreading?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Let's be perfectly blunt. the object of the exercise was never to eliminate the disease through wearing masks. The object of the exercise was to keep initial rates of infection low until we get a handle on the disease. We now know that the disease is not nearly as deadly as initially thought. Fully 80% of us are immune to it before we even come into contact with it. Of a healthy population 99.994% will survive. Of those do not survive 85% have co-morbidities. Note the plural. So the risk to the average healthy human is so small as to be negligible. If you live in a city of a million people 4 otherwise healthy people without co-morbidity will die from covid. And to prevent that we shut down the economy and forced everyone to wear masks and imposed strict quarantines..... In the mean time in my city of 1,000,000 people 12 have died from covid induced murder suicide. 45 have died from drug over doses likely the result of people being bored. I know of 3 that died who had never taken drugs before. They were in their 30s and seen as stable individuals before covid. So if you want to wear a mask or rub purple mud in your navel or what ever else the 'science' tells you to do feel free. As for me I choose not to wear them.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@hippyjoe1955 And it would even be lower if the medical centers and nursing homes didn’t blow their lungs out with ventilators.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti And put infected people in with the vulnerable population. I have seen estimates that almost 40,000 Americans would still be alive if not for liberal health policy. Funnily enough the most liberal provinces in Can'tada also have the highest death rate and most of those deaths occurred in nursing homes. Hmmmmm But you and I must wear a mask because 'science' says so. The clowns with the 'science' can't even read the warnings on the side of the box the masks come in. I sent a crew in to a meat packing plant a few weeks back. There was some physical work to be done in the parts room. the crew dutifully put on the mask and gowns and within 15 minutes were forced to take off the masks. They felt like they were suffocating. One young lady kept her mask on the entire time she was in the plant and every day she would leave the site with a screaming headache. Once the mask was off and she was outside in the fresh air for an hour or two the headache disappeared. Those who took off the masks did not have headaches.

@hippyjoe1955 Choosing not to wear one puts others at more risk. If a person standing next to you had covid and he sneezed would you rather he was wearing a mask or not wearing a mask?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle There is no quantified information that clearly indicates that masks help the general population. There are simply too many variables to make such a declarative statement. What is known is covid is not a very deadly disease.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 So rather not take precautions than may save others than not take precautions. Why do doctors dealing with covid patients wear masks and coverings?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle you mean put seatbelts on my couch?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 No because your couch isn't moving at any given number of mph.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle And that is different from wearing a mask how?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 A mask helps prevent the spread of corona and a seatbelt on a stationary couch improves the situation by 0%.
