The mayor of Oklahoma City is trying to turn the business owners into mask enforcers...

They will lose my business forever when that happens.

There really isn't enough proof for or against masks. But the facts are that masks make my shitty exhalation be less so I will wear a mask in public.

Now when the state mandates I do something I get a little confused because generally the state just looks out for itself.

@G00GLE when you wear a simple medical mask they impede oxygen intake and they also hold in carbon dioxide, not a good combo. And I’m not talking long-term mask-wearing, oxygen levels go down within 15 seconds. There was a man who used a workplace oxygen meter from his job (because it’s the law for those who wear respirators) and measured his oxygen level with the mask off, it’s was within healthy limits. He measured again with the mask on & within a few seconds the alarm went off. Had he been working it’s the law that he would have to be taken out of the work area into fresh air.

@cherokeepatti Masks aren't for healthy people to begin with. They aren't made to protect you, they are to protect YOU from OTHERS. Now impeding oxygen is something good because when you exhale less, there is less chance to spew out the shitty ass virus.

I agree that people who already have trouble breathing should be free of wearing a mask. Which is something most western countries agree with.

I'm relatively young and healthy so I will continue wearing a mask in public because it decreases the chance of infecting other people. If you have issues with wearing a mask reach out to people that don't! I have been buying groceries for people that can't wear a mask, and there are plenty of people that do the same!

@G00GLE There is as much evidence as you want supporting their use.

Some go as back as March...

@cherokeepatti What about surgeons that keep them for even longer than our average working shift? The only difference is they change them frequently, but then, that depends on how many you have with you (and it's for effectiveness, not personal-safety reasons).
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Elessar I’m thinking that may be one reason for medical malpractice.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE I have asthma. And have passed out a few times, get overheated very easily. Wearing a mask will heat up my throat and it’ll start swelling. When I was a child I could pull a blanket over my face to keep the light off my face & it was all right, I can’t do that now, and I’m talking about a lightweight fleece blanket with plenty of air pockets around it. People wearing masks while driving have passed out from the lowered oxygen flow.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti A lot more people died from medical malpractice when doctors weren't bothered much about hygiene, historically, than now.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Elessar they are pushing a lot of drugs that people shouldn’t be taking nowadays. Many are greedy trying to reach a goal so that the pharmaceutical companies will reward them with a fat annual bonus if they prescribe a certain amount.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti That's quite literally what I addressed! There certainly are people that can't wear masks, and I am trying to change that by shopping for them!

If you can't wear a mask try to find someone that can and that is willing to help you. In this situation everyone needs to do their part.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE No I don’t want others to shop for me. Besides the cost I am picky about produce and sale prices, they can’t do that for me. Several stores are selling produce that should have been thrown out several days before and that started when the quarantine started.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@cherokeepatti Then as an at risk person you should stay home anyway and get others to shop for you or have your needs delivered. I am all for freedom.. But you also have a civic responsibility. Failure to wear a mask after a law is passed is exactly the same as failure to stay sober when you get behind the wheel of a car. I assume you wont defend a drunk drivers freedom to drink.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Who says I am at risk? I know how to strengthen my immune system.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti You can be connected to that person that is shopping for you and tell them what you want and what not. There really is no reason to endanger yourself or others.

Wearing a mask isn't weather or not you agree with politics it's whether or not you want to protect your fellow people.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE anyone who shops for you won’t get what you are looking for. Been there, done that. They come home with the damndest things instead of what you need to cook with.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti There is an emergency going on. You don't die if you don't get the best sale price, some do if they get a viral pneumonia because people don't wear masks, for a reason or another.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti I am sorry to say, but in that case you need to go with the times. There is no reason you couldn't be able to convey what you need!

These are strange times, and we all need to give some things up.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE Nope, if it was about safety then they should outlaw motorcycles and other unsafe things.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti That's silly. If we want absolute safety we would all be living in suspended animation.

Life is inherently dangerous, but humanity has for a long time done it's best to make it as safe as possible. Look at the features of a car for example. Seatbelts, airbegs, crumblezones, mirrors, ABS, power steering, etc...

Those are features humans developed to keep us all safer.

Wearing masks is a way we can keep each other safe.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE the flu was going around several years ago, my friend died and others did too, hospitals full of flu patients. They didn’t call for people to wear masks out in public then even though people were getting sick. But that was back in the Obama years. This is an election year.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti You can't compare the past and now. 10 years ago we thought landing rockets is bullshit, look at it now. As I said before, we all gotta go with the times.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti The rest of the world is locking down too, and this killed far more than the worst flus happened since 1918 *in spite of* attempting to contain it. Nobody gives a damn about the U.S presidential worldwide. We only care about several countries including yours being a reservoir for new infections once we'll have cleared out ours for good.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE It was a few years ago. I can compare it. It hasn’t changed that much except the Deep State and Dems don’t want Trump to be reelected and they are pulling out all the stops to make sure he doesn’t
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti This isn't a issue of politics really, and I won't make one out of it. This is a issue of morality and compassion. Wearing masks saves people. That is really all there is to it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G00GLE You’ve been brainwashed
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti No. I don't trust the news as much as the next guy. I am not America, I don't give the slightest of fucks about the orange guy, or the senile guy, or the black guy.

Surgeons wear masks in operating rooms so they stop infections. They have done it for decades. Clearly it does SOMETHING. Wearing a mask doesn't increase the risk of infecting people, so why should I be against it?

It doesn't impede on my human rights, so why should I be against it?
