What's the coldest weather you've ever been exposed to?
So I'm curious as to what is the coldest weather you guys and gals have been exposed to? Living in Alaska, I've been exposed to some pretty cold weather during the winter. However, nothing can beat the -80 with wind-chill from this past January. We had a couple of weeks where it was very very cold and windy. It did a lot of damage to buildings and houses. We had hurricane force winds too which caused a lot of vehicles and signs and other structures to be blown over or damaged Here's some pics of that that I braved one day to take.
Alaska would be be pretty chilly, I’m sure. Out here in northern Canada, we routinely get -40 for a week or so every winter. My personal oldest was -45 plus a chill on top of that. Nasty.
At first I thought in Celsius and thought "in -80 degrees I could freeze my eggs" 😂 not that -60 is any better but yeah 😬 I think the coldest for me is between -5C to -10C or 14F-23F
@HannibalAteMeOut my old account was deleted because I had a "hate speech" complaint brought against me because I made a post titled "I don't think teachers regardless of sexual orientation should be talking to students about their sex life" something I thought a lot of people could get behind. Apparently that was too much for one person.
I remember we went to see a uncle that lives by the great lakes. He wanted to take me fishing. I thought I was dress warm but I was freezing. I couldn't stop shaking to enjoy fishing.

@smileylovesgaming yeah I have heard it can get brutal out there on those lakes in the winter. Hopefully you learned a lesson about dressing for the conditions?
Not sure. Here in Australia, we do most of our camping in the winter time. Cause there is less chance of heat stroke. Snakes and other creepy crawlies. We are also allowed a camp fire during this time. I'm not sure as to how cold it got since the mobile signals are a bit shotty in some areas of the outback still. There have been nights where I had taken a stone or two from the camp fire into the sleeping bag with me.
@Lilnonames that's good that he was able to help you out. That was one thing that impressed us when we lived there, how nice and helpful people in the Midwest are 😊
Absolutely nothing like most of you on here. But I did walk home in severe gusts and rain and was shaking badly and could barely move my legs forward. The rain was like pin needles and my face was red for 3 days. I expect many of you have experienced far worse.

@meggie that can be just as dangerous. Glad that you made it through without serious damage. Stay safe out there. Weather can close in stupid fast
Some of the ice looks so cool though. Back packing in cali mountains, got stuck in a blizzard for 2 days. No idea what the temp was other than really fucking cold.🥶 And yet, it's my favorite place in the world.😆🤷♂️ Hot coffee and fresh trout on a campfire can persuade me to suffer many discomforts. Somehow I still think it was fun, despite almost freezing to death.
Coldest was -14 or -20 in new York City. Alaska is a state I always wanted to travel during the colder months. Only went during the summer. However, that -80 makes me not want to go. Looks like a winter wonderland though... minus the airplane flipped over
