I do the same. The people who dont like me gravitate away. The people who want me around will stay around.

It depends. Sometimes yes.

It really depends on the situation for me. If I'm in a bad mood at work, okay, I'll have to eventually explain myself. But I'm not going to apologize for who I am. I get that you need to be approachable, but at the same time, none of us are perfect, but... I will not change who I am for anyone. I am who I am (and no this is not a Popeye reference lol)
No like, at work mainly other people break the rules, so I let the supervisor know. Then their boss is talking to them and they have no clue why. And the entire time I'm internally screaming... BECAUSE YOU BROKE THE FUCKING RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEN.... they want to get all mad and huffy puffy over it. Then don't break the rules. And I'm at the point where I don't care if someone knows about that because I worry about myself and not all up in other people's business.

If you don’t attempt to give an explanation people can think the worst of you.
Justgirl · 36-40, F
@Gingerbreadspice That's true. They can. I think if they're meant to be in my life, they will be
NoGamesTolerated · F
@Gingerbreadspice And many times.. that’s exactly what they do.
If you tell people good things about yourself, they don’t believe it.
If you tell them bad things they about yourself, they believe what you say and more too! 🥹

Not anymore. People are going to think what they want about me...that is their problem not mine.

Nah, I just let people speculate. Sometimes it makes me look bad and idk if it’s the right thing but I don’t owe anyone an explanation.
megank2785 · 36-40, F
Totally agree with you one hundred percent

i usually do. especially when it comes to misunderstandings. i explain myself fully because misunderstandings often lead to shit you don't want to deal with later. for example i have a resting pissed off face. which often leads to me having to explain myself.

I explain if the query is genuine and non-judgmental. But when it comes with prejudice and preconceived notions, I have the strategy of blowing their own nonsense by 3x times ridiculing their judgement sarcastically.
ElizaJane · 56-60, F
I think I still spend way too much time explaining myself and it ang rs me a little. I thought this cool new world doesn't identify as needing to explain. Why is it still necessary for me?🤔
Casheyane · 31-35, F
I get tired of explaining. It mostly just hurts.
But do as I say, not as I do haha. Try to explain if it's something you can still make work.

I've been making a point to less and less.

I find myself doing that sometimes, even though I find merit in the quote I heard or read long ago:
DanteD · 51-55, M
Nope. I'm straight forward with everything I do and say. No one has to like or agree. But for me, life goes on.
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
sometimes i feel it's required, but if its someone i consider unimportant & insignificent, then i don't.

I sometimes won't give explanations, depending on the situation, because I don't owe them any
NoGamesTolerated · F
I usually do… much to my detriment. Lol
Justgirl · 36-40, F
@NoGamesTolerated I use to as well
NoGamesTolerated · F
@Justgirl sometimes I just block… *thinking who has time for this* lol

I live my life the way I want. I do not have to explain. I learned this early. What do you do?
SW-User
No, not anymore. I try to educate them, no reason for it. Just cant help it
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
If you get a traffic ticket an explanation can sometimes get the fine reduced

Only when I consider it a learning opportunity for my audience

Like you, only those whose opinions I value
NewBeginnings7790 · 41-45, F
I have a tendency to always over share
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
No. Not so much. It doesn’t make any difference.

Depending on the situation, yes.
I never need to.

I have a large German Shepherd, no one asks for explanations

It depends on who is in front of me. People whom I care about get the full picture rest can F themselves in the corner.
