any tips on not thinking about death?

ever since i was little, this idea has been bugging me, and till this day, i'd randomly just start thinking about it and get scared and start crying and having a panic attack. anyone who's gone through this before and can give me tips on how to stop thinking about it? <33
You can't . The more you don't think about something the more intrusive it becomes. The best thing you can do is what is called exposure and response prevention. You force yourself to think the thought that bothers you and deal with the emotions and wait for your brain to habituate to it. Over time it will have less and less of an impact. But that first step is definitely hard.
Some like people with oce their brain do not habituate right so they need medication to calm them in addition to ERP.
@canusernamebemyusername well said.

During a family weekend at the beach when I was 5 or 6, I had gone up to camp for a drink and was looking down the hill to see what everyone was doing, a King Brown (Coastal Taipan) slithered across my foot. And after a close encounter with the 2nd most poisonous snake in the world. Death doesn't scare me as much as it should.

@Adstar @Thevy29 I was walking through bush with my wife and there was a steep gully that you had to run down and run up the other side. As I stepped off I heard the whirr of scales and saw it, and pushed my wife backwards but I had already stepped off and couldn't stop. It was directly between my feet as I ran about 10 metres down the steep slope. A 5-6 foot tiger snake - also in the top 10 world's most deadly. No idea how I didn't step on it. I ran half way up the other side away from it but now it was heading directly towards me. My wife thought to mention that also. I thought if it gets closer i can run down again. Then it turned around and slipped into an old car body in the gully.

@Abstraction And the Brits don't want to come to Australia because of all our poisonous things and I always assure them you won't ever encounter them. :D

@Abstraction I had three close encounters with snakes.. The one i posted above was only the first one.. I lived on a farm near a river i used to go down to the river on hot days for a swim and to build sand castles.. Anyway there was this fence i had to climb over to get to the river.. One day i was climbing up the post of the fence to jump down the other side.. As i was starting to jump down the other side i looked at the ground and i saw another red bellied black snake and at the last moment i push out from the post to get enough momentum to jump over the snake and land on the other side of it.. When i hit the ground i did a roll to get as far from that snake as possible.. I was like a super athletic ninja.. I had that surge of Adrenalin that made me make a super jump and made time seem to slow down heaps..

On another day going down to the same river i had passed the fence and was walking in the longer grass when i stepped on a fully grown Brown snake hidden in the grass.. A far far more dangerous snake then the red belly black snake.. fortunately the snake tried to get away and my foot was only on a small part of the snakes tail and it quickly slithered away.. I froze in fear and watch the huge snake quickly slither away towards a tree.. If it had not been able to quickly escape from my foot i am sure it would have turned around and bit me.. I was about 11 years old.. So i would never have made it back home alive if it had got me.. After i got my shite together i turn around and ran back home.. I did not want to be anywhere near that huge snake..

Read Einstein on time. There’s likely no such thing as time. Anything that ever was, is and everything that will ever be, already is. You’re already dead and you’ll never die. The contradiction in that statement is within you, not in the statement.

I’m not talking about some lame religious promise of eternal life, I’m talking about cold, hard reality.

@Ryderbike “enjoy” is limited to humans? Really? Tell my dog that next time he gets some cheese. Tell that to the cat curled up next to my wood stove. I don’t think you understand what that word means which likely explains your pained and sour approach to life.
@redredred a dog is not a tree.

@Ryderbike Very good. Can you cite a definitive peer-reviewed botanical study that confirms plants lack all consciousness?

Funny .

But do you ever let yourself be vunerable ?
Does talkkng about politics and Mc. breakfasts sooth your aching soul? or is it a perpetual distraction from how your heart aches ?

You laugh , you jest , you make fun .

But no one is ALWAYS funny.
They break ,
They hurt ,
They desire ,
They want.
.... It's human to do so.

None of this you share.

You hide it .

And since you CANT, dont make fun of those who do.

Its not only 'not fair ' , its.....making fun of those doing what 'you're too afraid to do ' .

You have the most amazing mind, frankly - it blows me away, it's so intelligent and witty.

But..... It coverts a heart so vulnerable, it jeers at people in their own vulnerability.

Which, although you think is witty, is also cruel. (which is sad)

A smart mind you do have.... A smart heart.... Yet to be shown. 😔

Be caring some times.... It wont break who you are. 💜.... It'll only make you more.
Death is the most natural thing in the world. Everyone dies. Worrying about it will change nothing . You will still die and so will everyone you know . Accept death as a part of the human experience and once you truly accept it, it will no longer frighten you.

Just accept that one day your going to die... Once you accept death as just another phase in existence it will no longer cause you such dread...

Oh and believing The LORD Jesus also helps heaps with facing death.. 🤗
Better to learn how to live than to worry about dying.

Try to choose to think about it for a period of time, and then move to other things. Make it a normal thing to think about, it has enriching things to teach, and it never gets old.

Get busy living. Dont just sit there. Find something to do with every minute you have..😷

Learn acceptance... We cause ourselves the most pain by refusing to face change
Why tho? Did you see someone die at a young age and are traumatized by it?

You are thinking about it for a reason .

To deny oneself ones deeper feelings is a travesty and only shoves those desires deeper .

You need to face your demons .
