when i played my last basketball game at 19 years old as a senior in college, it broke my heart at the time. the price of growing up

Getting older takes a lot more courage than I ever realized in my younger years.

I've never thought about this even once. I feel like there's nothing i can't do no matter what age i am. I've done yoga with 80 and 90 year olds. They are the inspiration for what i'm striving to become.

That occasionally crosses my mind with the important stuff like the last time I walked in the sun with my mother or the last time I saw a friend, but it’s not what getting older “means” to me. Along that thread, I would think it more accurate to say getting older means recognizing the importance of prioritizing all the things I have yet to do.
Earlier this year I was driving past my former coworkers parents house and saw him (my coworker) having a smoke outside in the front garden. It was over 4 years since I seen him and 4 years since he’d lived there. Now another 6 months has gone by and I wish I had stopped to say hello. I often wonder if that was my final chance without knowing it.

not only from age but from traditions that stop. that is what bothers me. i can't run anymore and i wish i could but after my 2 knee surgeries it is a struggle

Im 84 and there are so many things i cannot do that i took for granted even 5 years ago...make the most of your life and enjoy yourself....

@Musicman thanks a lot, is your wife ok
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Platinum She will be. 🙂
Yes, in the many seasons of life, eras come to a close.
If you live long enough, you start losing friends and relatives that filled them.
A sobering reminder of our finite existence, and to never take it for granted.

The last thing I did for the very last time was go to an amusement park. We went to Knott's Berry Farm last year and after riding the rides and walking around all day, I knew I was never going to do that again. I was sore for DAYS after.

That is quite true. So many things I will never do again, but that's okay. There are more new things to try.

The worst part is deluding yourself into thinking it doesn't have to be the last time, and then the rational mind takes over and you have to admit "not really".

That's the worst part on things that conceivably are still there -- like traveling abroad -- but the truly worst part is thinking back to the things you coulda, shoulda, woulda done with the partners you buried but never quite got around to it.

True, but it can also be tough to admit that there are things you will never do again.

🤣🤣🤣 I lived my whole life delighting in "Firsts". I used to crow about a "first" time doing almost anything. What getting older means to me is that the "firsts" are now few and far between!
That’s true for me; not so much because I don’t think I could still do them, but for many because I no longer have the interest.
SmoothKnight · 56-60, M
I haven't really thought much about it to be honest. I'm sure there are a few things I've done for the last time, but I'm gonna have to ruminate on it to see if anything comes to mind.
But every day of your life is not knowing how many things you did for the last time🤷‍♀

I think you sound super young..
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Sometimes, just the age isn't the only reason for "last time ever without knowing it".
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
More like things I have done but no longer wish to do ever again.
Allelse · 36-40, M
That's life.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Like falling in love...........
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Bold of you to assume I remember that. 😆
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Well that's a depressing thought.
Thanks.
Musicman · 61-69, M
For me it's more like things I want to do, but can't do anymore. ☹
