Is relying on God for guidance comforting?

On another social network site I am on a member's son went missing and eventually found. He had ended his own life.
There was an abundance of sympathy with many members invoking God in their condolences.
One in particular took my eye.
"Thank you Lord God for giving R** closure so the healing process can begin"
Is this comforting to the griever?
Please be respectful in your replies.

I don’t know. I meditated on the psalms for three years. It helped me how to pray.
Sometimes I just shout at God, asking why? Sometimes I bring people to him.
Sometimes I ask for forgiveness. Other times, I just rest in his goodness, mercy and grace.

It's hard for me when your past was already hopeless and then you think of the future is hopeless as well. I have a hard time going through this.....

@FreestyleArt While waiting would it be better to live the way you want to live? Doing things that give you a little happiness?
Ignore the negativity and concentrate on the good stuff going on around us. There is plenty of that, we just need to dig a little deeper.

@Gusman I've been doing that. I always seek happiness only myself I guess...it don't matter

@FreestyleArt You do matter. We all matter. Sometimes helping others gives great rewards as well.
A kind smile, a card sent to a friend, talking to a stranger on a park bench/train/bus.
These little kindnesses can improve our own happiness.

It's comforting for me to know at the end of the day anything bad or stressful is also on his shoulder too. We work together.
It can be comforting, and it can be insensitive.
It all depends on the beliefs of the griever.

Guess it depends on the griever. But what I see on social media when it comes to 'thoughts and prayers' is that it's both an opportunity for people to wave their god flag and do the very least that they can. But god giving a kid closure? Screw that. That's cruel and demented and I can't imagine a grieving parent taking solace in that. Unless they're so detached from reality that it actually carries weight.
For those for whom religion is a comfort, likely yes. The thought of peace after death. I feel that saying that after a suicide seems rather cruel. If he is dead, he is not healed. And his family and friends? They will be devastated forever.

@PoetryNEmotion Yes it is immensely difficult to deal with the suicide of a friend. We are never the same afterwards.

Not to me it isn't.
I have seen that thread.
Religious belief is personal…
Whatever gives the individual comfort is fine by me.
But as an atheist I’m not going to be saying such things.

For a Christian yes, in some small way. When I pray for someone who is in difficulty I only ask for God's mercy and grace to fill their hearts.

That would depend on the individual I would think. I find it borderline myself. I know they mean well but it could be seen as presumptuous and patronising

Said a prayer that hed be safely found... if evil was done against this soul, may they be held accountable for their actions
No. It’s dumbing down. Why would the creator want us all as docile as cattle?

@LosSantosNPC Not according to the Psalmist.

If God were real, the kid wouldn't be dead.
SW-User
@TrashCat Oh, I gave God a mouthful when my daughter died in my arms.
