Is relying on God for guidance comforting?

On another social network site I am on a member's son went missing and eventually found. He had ended his own life.
There was an abundance of sympathy with many members invoking God in their condolences.
One in particular took my eye.
"Thank you Lord God for giving R** closure so the healing process can begin"
Is this comforting to the griever?

For those for whom religion is a comfort, likely yes. The thought of peace after death. I feel that saying that after a suicide seems rather cruel. If he is dead, he is not healed. And his family and friends? They will be devastated forever.

@PoetryNEmotion Yes it is immensely difficult to deal with the suicide of a friend. We are never the same afterwards.
