Is relying on God for guidance comforting?

On another social network site I am on a member's son went missing and eventually found. He had ended his own life.
There was an abundance of sympathy with many members invoking God in their condolences.
One in particular took my eye.
"Thank you Lord God for giving R** closure so the healing process can begin"
Is this comforting to the griever?

Guess it depends on the griever. But what I see on social media when it comes to 'thoughts and prayers' is that it's both an opportunity for people to wave their god flag and do the very least that they can. But god giving a kid closure? Screw that. That's cruel and demented and I can't imagine a grieving parent taking solace in that. Unless they're so detached from reality that it actually carries weight.
