Are humans allowed to live wild in the USA and Canada's?

I just saw a documentary on wild horses and I was wondering if humans are allowed to live in wild without government interference

They are allowed to plop their cardboard boxes down and live wherever they want to in big Democrat run cities in the US, but not so in national parks.
HumanEarth · F
@RedBaron Republicans and Democrats both need to be executed. They are both working together to destroy a country
RedBaron · M
@HumanEarth That’s a fairly warped view of things, to say nothing of cruel and inhumane.
HumanEarth · F
@RedBaron I'm just saying both groups work for the same side and that side is hell bent on killing a country.

I don't like either side. I think their crooked, evil and greedy

If you manage to survive in the woods...I imagine it's far easier than in Europe. We don't have that vast forest areas. North America seems to have so many places where one can get "lost" and nobody will be looking for them.
HumanEarth · F
@cherokeepatti Yeah, but I bet the fish is poisoned with mercury and other heavy metals. Thanks to pollution

@HumanEarth might be, less chance than being in a developed area though with run-off of yard chemicals and farm chemicals.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
In the USA Slab City in California is the closest thing to that idea.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@robertsnj not really. It is interesting to watch the videos about it. People are pretty laid-back there but there are things that go on there I don’t want to be around. I watched one video about it. Someone commented that they’d visited and came home with an STD due to paying someone for sex. There was a guy making pets out of rattlesnakes he caught there and handling them. That weirded me out. I don’t want to live anywhere in a desert area with rattlesnakes. And no running water although I think there’s a well or spring where random people dip into it and bathe….which is a yuck factor. Imagine living there and having car trouble when you get in to go somewhere to get groceries and water, not a good thing. Or have a medical problem and need to get checked really quick.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti i feel the same way about it / not doable for me but I respect people who give that a shot
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@robertsnj for those on a strict budget it may be one way to survive. Some people worked hard to create a free library there from books that were discarded after people moved and left boxes of belongings behind. That kind of thing probably helps it to be more livable for them considering that the only entertainment there is what the residents provide.

Not really. There is no "wild" land left in the U.S.
It's all either private owned property (therefore you can't legally live/trespass), or it's government-owned (meaning you can be arrested for even setting foot on it without permission).
@HumanEarth
Black lives Matter have their own land now
Bureau of Land Management
(but who knows, maybe after reparations ?)
HumanEarth · F
@bijouxbroussard I was kidding and being funny
@HumanEarth Likewise.

Look up Slab City in California.

No. There is no country that allows people to live outside of the law.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@BohemianBabe :) I prefer the word cooperative to socialism. In a coop we are free to cooperate or not. Socialism takes too much of the choice away. There are some things that we all must cooperate to prevent chaos, but in the interest of maximizing personal freedom, the must list should be kept to a minimum
@Heartlander So there are some Socialists who would say my view doesn't go far enough, but I don't think corporations should be forced to become co-ops. I think essential services should be nationalized, and corporations shouldn't get subsidies or tax breaks unless they're co-ops. So in this scenario, there would still be some private ownership, business-owners would still have that choice. But workers would have way more power and the majority of businesses would probably choose to become co-ops.

But this is why infighting on the Left has become a meme. 😆
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@BohemianBabe In a system where we voluntarily cooperate or not on most things, it tends to be more bottom-up government Vs socialism which eventually migrates to top-down government. With cooperative associations were's not limited to that for essential services like education and health care, or clean drinking water, police, fire services, etc.

Forcing corporations to become anything other that what's agreed on by the stockholders is too far an overreach. Forcing employees to have a stake in the profits is a disaster and probably accounts for why so many Americans are driving autos made in Japan :)
pikminboy · 31-35, M
No. I already looked for that, and i learnt that every land is owned by government so you cant cut trees and build a house unless its your land
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Unlikely unless they do it in a rogue way. All property is deeded to someone or some entity so unless they own a good sized piece of property it’s unlikely and even then they must pay property taxes every year and come up with the money to do it unless they have a relative or friend that owns property and would allow it. One of my favorite movies is Last of the Dogmen, I would highly recommend it even though it’s a fictional movie it gives a concept of how it would be.
HumanEarth · F
@cherokeepatti Great Idea. I look it up
Its called Freeman on the land.

@Guardian Those clueless idiots making up laws out of their ass call themselves Soveriegn Citizens over here.
@MethDozer where is here?
MethDozer · M
@Guardian Anywhere actually. It's not actually a real thing anywhere
Sure. There have been people who went off grid, and there are plenty of wilderness areas one could get lost in (as it were). It's not for the inexperienced, and survival can be tough. Just read about a family (2 sisters and a kid) who were found deceased after trying that in Colorado.
On abandoned Islands and North North Sentinel Island where outsiders are not allowed at all.

@Bugbittinbrain You should read and educate about the facts before saying that. Abundance of education is available on Google, do some study.

Allowed to roam free, live in the wold and on the streets? Yes

Without govt. interference?? No.
Try to rob a few people and the police show up to slap your hand and tell you to stop it, depending on what city this is.
HumanEarth · F
@nonsensiclesnail I'm not talking about living wild in the city. I'm talking living in what's left of the wilderness
@HumanEarth I did read that a small family was found mummified after going out into the Colorado wilderness to live off the grid.

Ive knows of quite a few people. Locally, who have made similar decisions, only in forested communities outside of small town in the area. Its not uncommon and yes, they are left alone unless they are breaking laws.
If you went off the grid, yes. Few have survival skills though.
HumanEarth · F
@PoetryNEmotion I'm more then off grid, talking like living like a wild animal
@HumanEarth Talk is nothing. Doing is something.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
Canada's what?
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Just run out into the woods and dont telm anybody
pancakeslam · 46-50, M
yes, but you need a hunting permit and fishing license (where do you get the money?), a deed for that land your teepee is on, to only remove timber on your land, and to wear a tasteful loin cloth, sign up for medical care, and file a tax return
HumanEarth · F
@pancakeslam Thats government interference
Musicman · 61-69, M
Definitely not! The politicians love controlling people to much for that.
MethDozer · M
Not really. There's vast amounts of fairly wild land but it's mostly owned one way or the other.

Really your only option is in the deserts.
