What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?

Driving South on Route 1 through the Florida Keys to get to the Naval base on Key West Florida. It was 3 AM 0300 hours and my Budy a Naval intelligence officer suggested we pull over climb a 4-foot-high fence and take a dip in a resort swimming pool. So, I hit the ditch and off we went not thinking we were in uniform. We got to the pool, and I looked at him a said we can swim in our uniforms let's leave. He said strip down and jump in and we will keep our distance from each other. So, we did so. About 30 minutes later when we were getting out of the pool to get dressed and move on down the road a short maybe 5'6'' 300-pound security guard rounded the corner seeing us he said stay right there as I call the police and reached for his waist to get his walkie talkie. (This was 1989 and nowhere close to cell phone era). I looked right at him and shouted, "quick let's catch him and rape him!" Poor bastard fell over a chair dropping his walkie talkie face planting himself got up slowly and ran away as fast as he could as I ran at him. I kicked the walkie talkie into the pool, ran back to my uniform putting my boxers back on grabbed up my clothing and ran for the truck with my buddy.

No, we are not gay and never were or will be okay.


We did not get caught and me being combat arms security specialist and my buddy being an Intelligence specialist could have been screwed if caught.

So, years ago, I had a girlfriend from Russia. She was wonderful, and fun, and she had a freedom that came from living in a country where she didn‘t know all of the rules.

We packed a lunch, and went for a picnic. But the parks were crowded, so we kept walking, and found a ver expensive neighborhood where the back yards were huge, and fences nonexistent. We walked through the yards far from the houses, reveling in the manicured lawns and gardens. We found a great spot out of view of any house, set down our blanket. We had a lovely picnic lunch, then made out and napped together and watched the clouds wheel overhead.

It was this wonderful moment of peace and connection. We packed up and held hands as we walked, enjoying the day and each other‘s company. Definitely better than the public parks.

Now, years later, it seems like a dream. After a life of living by the rules, it‘s hard to imagine this carefree moment. It‘s a feeling that, as I feel the number of days remaining dwindle, I hope to recapture. A moment of spontaneous joy, where I feel out of time and so alive in the presence of another, where the usual rules fall away, and we can just be.

Walking down a street in China, met up with a man who invited me to his apartment to meet his family. It was actually legit, and we all had tea followed by a visit to a local dance club.

Turning a car ride into a road trip. Ended up almost 150 miles from home, found a state park lodge with a view, stayed overnight and acted like teenagers shacking up in a motel!

I can't top any of the wild and fantastic whoppers I am reading so I will just say I changed the oil in my car.

Let’s see.. I’ve done a lot but move to a new country is probably way up there tho😍

My life is spontaneous

I guess selling off everything I own, selling my tiny little business and moving 400 miles away to start a farm with a woman that became my wife.

Didn't plan it, made up my mind and did it under a month time

Drove across the country after high school on a whim

Drop kicked my work mobile phone into the River Thames. It was quicker than writing a resignation letter 😁

Went from Washington State to California on a whim, traveling in a beat up station wagon

Ran away i mean move

Sex in a nightclub restroom with a guy I just met. We got interrupted and kicked out, but we had gotten started, lol.

Applied to join the Air Force because I happened to be working past the recruitment centre with my mother who said, "why don't you try this?" Was serving within 6 months and did 29 years total.

I'm high school six of us jumped in two cars and took off to California to see who made it there first.

Within 2 weeks of deciding to leave my home town for good, I had sold my house and was living 3000 km away in Esperance Western Australia
