We flew through the Canyon on an eight seater plane. At one point, we were told to look to the left window, and we could see a flat green plateau, with tiny little pine trees...and a herd of wild horses running through, tiny as ants.

@4meAndyou a few have said there as well..👍

Driving along Big Sur in California was certainly up there

Primnproper · 56-60, F

A Temple in Vietnam every thing was carved from wood and I mean everything.

@Primnproper I love it all to be fair. I like travelling and have been to some very nice places. I like to see how other people live and see there culture. Some times it’s hard to believe how people live the way that they do. We could never live like some of them do but they are happy not like us who want and need everything
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Houdini i think that shows when i watch some documentaries on different countries. Ive always believed those with the least appreciate much more and are more thankful for what they have got.
Houdini · 56-60, M
@Primnproper definitely

@Benjago that is stunning, thanks for the pic. 👍
I’ve been blessed to have seen so many beautiful places, tough to pick just one so here’s a few: Canadian Rockies, California coast, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Africa, Thailand, Japan during cherry blossom season, China, Hong Kong harbor at night. 🙂
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@OlderSometimesWiser they all sound fantastic and you have been blessed.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
Sometime the "most beautiful" is the feeling you get when suddenly confronted by a scene you didn't expect would stop you in your tracks. There are many more beautiful scenes I've faced, but I remember the strong feeling of "good life" this one brought to me:
Niagara Falls in Canada, on a trip with my family in 1985. It was completely breathtaking
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@mindlessdrifter My mum went there for her 60th birthday trip. It looks breathtaking.
@Primnproper It is truly outstanding
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@mindlessdrifter it certainly looks it.
WandererTony · 56-60, M

Trekking up the hills to the Tatksang at Paro, I stopped for breath and looked down to see how far I had climbed. A cloud had rolled in below me covering the valley and looked like a bright white sheet of cotton with the blue sky and the glittering Tatksang above. It was like I was in the heavens. 😊😇
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@WandererTony wow! Thats crazy.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@WandererTony this is cool. I always wonder how things like this are built
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@iamnikki takes a lot of skill and a bit more than a lot of devotion ☺️

A McDonalds bacon bbq cheeseburger after not eating for 3 days. I cried it looked so good after my first bite.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@twistedrope I'm sure it was a blessing. 😁
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
I have seen a lot of beautiful places but the most awe inspiring has to be the Grand Canyon. Once you get the perspective of it’s vastness by seeing helicopters look like dragonflies or people riding donkeys as ants you realize your insignificant.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SageWanderer yes my husbands seen it and was totally blown away by it.
Plasticbag · 100+, M
Possibly a jet flying right over my head while lying on the edge of a mountain. The whole landscape and then this amazing machine just above my head blew my mind.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Plasticbag shame you didn't have a camera at the time..would of made a great picture.
Plasticbag · 100+, M
@Primnproper yeah. This mountain is on the training path for the RAF. I don’t know..it’s locked in my memory which is sometimes better
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Plasticbag very true..🙂
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
Up in Northern California I stood in awe at the incredibly tall trees and mountains that went on and on.
Julien · 36-40, M
@PerfectionOfTheHeart Oregon coast isn’t bad either ;)
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
@Julien So true. Once upon a time I was looking at retiring in Bradenton because the coast was that gorgeous.

I got a couple of them. First one is flying into Boston at night and the other is riding a train through Cape Cod and those little towns to Portland Maine and going to see Cape Elizabeth lighthouse.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@slorollin oh cool.. I’ve just recognised who you are. Lol
slorollin · 41-45, M

coastal northern California so far

after that, it's difficult to rank western Washington state, New York's Hudson Valley, and coastal Maine
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@BlueGreenGrey sounds popular..👍
@Northwest I haven't seen much of Oregon, just passing through on I-5 from CA to WA but the Willamette Valley seemed nice (and before that I didn't know Mount Saint Helens was visible from Portland ... have to wonder how things would've played out if that side of the volcano had blown out instead of the side that did)

Only part of BC I've been to is just crossing into their waters on a whale-watching boat

I suspect though, if I'd ever been there, the Mediterranean coast, from France to Turkey, would be my favorite part of the world
Northwest · M
@BlueGreenGrey Portland took the brunt of the Mt Helens explosion. I don't know how long it's been, but the Willamette Valley is exploding with newcomers, and traffic Still as gorgeous as ever, and best Pinot Noir around. I spend a few weekends a year over there.

I have a house in BC. So close to Seattle, and bought when prices were still "reasonable".

The Mediterranean coast is wonderful, but it's way too crowded (I say as I prepare to head over). The waters are about 50% obstructed by super yachts and cruise ships. My ultimate, "quiet" vacation, is SCUBA diving in the less traveled islands of French Polynesia.
Ang Kor Wat at dawn

@InOtterWords obviously had an impact on you.👍
My Beloved Multnomah Falls, which is 30 minutes east of Portland, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge, on Interstate 84 East.
