The way it works here is 99% of the time the catfish are extremely easy to spot.
The other 1% of the time someone is running a long con over the course of years and a few people will think they're a catfish and most others will be fooled. I can think of three pretty well-known users who ran that kind of long game. There are some genuinely wild stories.

@CountScrofula I liked Nothingness, even though 'she' was clearly fake. An interesting person behind the facade that I would have liked to know better. I played along. There was another too. I hope I'm remembering the right username, but I think 'BrownEyedDoe'. Someone anyway who caused a stir.

@Nitedoc Well, I had a Beretta, but my supervisor forced me to trade it for a 7.65 mm chambered Walther PPK...making it just slightly over 0.30 inches. The Beretta was not considered to be a proper gun for my line of work; the Walther was said to have "a delivery like a brick through a plate-glass window"...and I used it effectively for years.

@SomeMichGuy In all fairness the Berdtta was in 6.25mm (.25 auto) caliber was pretty anemic. Of course it is a ridiculous exaggeration to say the 7.65mm round "hits like a brick". Q knows better than that, but it is a step up from the 6.35mm.

@cherny I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve been called a man or someone else in general. I’m good but not that good….I’ve even been accused of hacking a person’s account on SW. 😮 Haha and many people here believed that garbage. Fact is I’m just not that tech savvy. Still it’s incredible how many people want to believe lies.
