I am scared of heights. Am now, always have been, and probably always will be. You have to face fears. You control them. Don't let them control you. I go out of my way to face my fear. In the army, I jumped out of airplanes, repelled out of helicopters and walked out on the glass ledge in the Sears Tower, or whatever they call it now, in Chicago. Face and conquer your fear.

Not a deep phobia but I had significant fear of lighting gas on a gas stove burner when I was growing up. That's the reason why I learned cooking rather late. It took me time to feel comfortable doing it and I still use a lighter instead of a sparker. 😆

Sometimes it just takes time. Face your fears and you will find out sometimes its not so bad once you get used to it or learn how to deal with it.

No. I’m still afraid of heights, and won’t drive across high bridges, or I go really slow, to the chagrin of those behind me.

I used to have a deep fear of wasps. I’ve mostly overcome that and can be fearless around them now. I would say overexposure did it for me. Year after year, I’d have to deal with them, but I guess after a while when you’re exposed to them for a good amount of time, you learn how to deal with them until you’re no longer afraid.
Maybe it’s not true for everyone. I’ve been afraid of heights since I was a kid and still very much am today. But that was how I overcame my fear of wasps anyway.

Spiders. I just let 'em roll on by now.

I have had some success with exposure therapy. It eradicated my fear of fire, which was petrifying when I was a kid. Now, I have a fireplace and reach directly into it when it's burning and I couldn't care less.

@uncalled4 have you walked over fiery coals?

@SW-User No, but I walked over Nat King Cole.

Partially. Ever since I was 5 years old, I had a deep phobia of bees and wasps, because a bumblebee got mad and chased me. It took me decades of learning about various bees and wasps to get to where I am now.
But yellowjackets still scare me more than any other bee or wasp in Oregon, and I call that common sense.
