Do you enjoy being checked out occasionally

...but ALSO feel so self conscious at the same time???

An attractive guy was looking at me twice as I walked nearby today. Even though at FIRST i enjoyed it I felt so awkward as I got closer.😩 I really hate it. If he had ever talked to me I would've for a minute too..but if they show MORE interest I will clam up and I don't feel I am enough. I wish life were not this difficult when it came to love or attraction 😟

I don’t mind men shooting glances at me. That makes me feel good about myself, empowered. And it shows some class on their part because they’re not just gawking at me. But when they’re full-on staring, that’s when it makes me uncomfortable. If they’re gonna be looking at me for that long, they better take the time to come to talk to me, which makes it less creepy because then it shows they had more of a genuine interest and were confident to go from staring to actually starting a conversation with me. When all they’re doing is staring, however, that’s just creepy, rude and unattractive as hell.

@Ducky

If a non-single man is looking at your appearance with lust in his heart, then he knows he should not try to hook up with you. He can look, but can't touch.

@JoyfulSilence Okay? 🤷‍♀️
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I don't mind being checked out it's usually if someone compliments continuously that I start to become slightly uncomfortable.

A few and I'm good, but if they start laying it on thick I don't know how to respond at that point and my brain is in "ok, stop this now." mode.

@DancingStarGoddess Ohhh same.
Oh, please and awww... You have many qualities. I think I know your feeling, I'm not the forward man, and believe it or not so many woman want to be seduced. I've always connected with those who seduced me. Had a moment this past weekend, while buying fish for my aquarium, I had not felt in so long, I knew I was being checked out by a woman with a young son buying her son his first fish tank. I knew the smile and I knew the body language. I am involved with someone I love (long distance), I just returned her smile, and it felt like a million years since. It caught me so off guard.

I just returned a smile.

That was enough. Of course, I had reasons to not try and flirt, but I did lap up the attention some. You will find someone, and you don't want the story, anxiety always kept me away. (even if it's understandble).... there is a man out there who understands you, sees you, and the old cliche, when you least expect. Just don't close yourself off.
I don’t mind the glances but staring is rude.

I get uncomfortable with guys checking me out
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
If someone wants to check me out go for it. Just understand that being able to look doesn’t mean being able to touch
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
First ... you ARE enough. You are more than enough. Know this and believe this.

But to your initial questions, no, I don't enjoy being checked out. I'm sure this is because as far back as I can remember (10, 12 years old) creepy old guys would be checking me out. I grew up in a very touristy beachfront community and guys were always hanging out and checking out everyone within sight. To this day those stares give me the creeps.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@sarabee1995 Having the level of PTSD that I do..I may not be enough for many. I think possibly intrinsically yes but for many guys Im sure they would tire of my issues. 🥺 But ty so much..I hope for some I may be enough. And Yeah staring creepily is not attractive..ugh.
AbbySvenz · F
No, especially the guys that think they’re being inconspicuous about it 😒
depends on who is checkin me out. LOL
calicuz · 51-55, M
@calicuz Im gonna pass this time.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
We men know the women who like to get a second look. And the ones who like a full meal stare.
I for one, do not disappoint them, ever 😏😊
twiigss · M
Sounds like now we both have our fair share of problems unfortunately. Wish you all the best 😊
fortycreek · M
I don't know, im clueless to it ever happening
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@fortycreek no way!!! They’re all staring! 😂😂
fortycreek · M
@Handfull1 you are too kind!
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
I have no idea if I'm ever getting checked out. I imagine I would react much as you did.
I'm not an expert but I am familiar with this very same scenario. I can talk for a little bit but I lose eye contact due to my lack of self esteem. The eyes may be the windows to the soul but how long can you see before the shade is drawn and the window becomes dark? I hate it but it also helps me learn. A long time with this, so it does feel impossible. Just something I have dealt with
Lostpoet · M
😠I am not a library book that you check out and never return
HumanEarth · 56-60, M
Half and half, I have mixed feelings on this.

I liked it, I feel sexy, I feel like I still got it, but at the same time. I feel like you. I also feel so self conscious at the same time about.

Specially since I'm very, very married and I'm a natural talker and I they may see me being comfortable talking to them as flirting.

So I tend to Stifle myself
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
Just enjoy!!🙂🙂
Strike a pose 🕺
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
If it ever happened, I would not believe it, and look behind me to see who she was looking at. And if she was looking at me, I would not know what to do.
what you want? make up your mind first
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@mysteryespresso Well I cannot tell a man to look or not to look at me.... I did enjoy it. but I don't feel worthy of MORE , is what I mean. :(
@Coralmist I don't understand sorry.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@mysteryespresso I like it if a guy occasionally looks at me, b/c it feels nice, and I feel connected. But if they want to talk or ask me out, I get nervous :(
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
I get checked out all the time but it's different not because anyone thinks I'm hot lol
