It should not be called " marriage". Marriages are between men and women. Anything else should be called a " union". You may try to get people to use other terms, yet it is not real. Oh, it is " legal". Not to me.
@JasminD It definitely is. Just wanted to put it in perspective. When I hear people talking about how progressive the world has become I think they are just looking at their own personal bubble. I can’t imagine what it is like to be someone in the other 80+% of the world who can’t be their authentic self because it “doesn’t vibe” with their country and they could even be killed for being themselves.

@onewithshoes No I think there is general consensus as to what is and isn't a human right. Those with "different ideas" are usually tyrants with blood on their boots.
@helenS Human rights are universal, but public policy, laws, and culture are ethnic and national, and it’s not yours or anyone’s job to dictate and prescribe for others.
Look at what a terrible job the UN does trying to make and enforce international policies.
@helenS The 'general consensus' seen in any given nation in any given century can be quite different from that seen in a different nation in another time, and such disparities cannot fairly be explained by the supposed influence of unnamed 'tyrants'.
They can in many countries but certainly not in Russia, judging by today's news that its government has decreed something called something like the "International LBGQT Movement" an illegal organisation.
@TheEmperor It's still illegal to be LGBTQ in 64 UN member States. In Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, the death penalty is imposed across the county.
It's only possible for same sex couples to get married in 33 UN member States.
