My grandma and aunt. A few of years of each other. The women on my mom’s side were all very close. My gram I knew was at peace and needed to be, but my aunt’s life was cut too short for mistakes between the drs and recovery center- I couldn’t accept that one. Then her son passed who I was also close with as well growing up and was in the process of going after them all.

Haven’t been the same since that.

My father who took his own life last February. The anniversary of his passing, is coming up in a couple of weeks...The grief has been something else. He wasn't a perfect man, but a good man. He deserved so much better...I thought I had felt pain before, but this has been on a whole different level. My chest physically hurts, when I think about him sometimes...I have been in a deep depression for the past couple of months. Which, is part of the reason why I joined SW. I wanted to ease back into socializing. I wanted to hopefully make some connections and learn from others.

I was 11 when my Great Aunt Hazel died. They took me to her funeral, and her sister, my Grandmother, was sitting behind us and she was saying, "It was a mercy!"

And suddenly I was FURIOUS! I stood up and said to everyone, "It was NOT a mercy!!! IT WAS NOT!!!!" And then I turned around and ran out of there.

My Aunt Hazel had polio as an adult...so she was confined to a wheelchair. I absolutely LOVED her. She was a wise cracker, and a character, and one of the funniest human beings I have ever met. She used to visit my Grandmother and they would play Cut Throat Scrabble...for BLOOD!

I wrote to her every month when she went to the nursing home, and when she died I FOUND my angry part.
My oldest son back in July 2003

passed away from an acute asthma attack - around 450 per year

My dad. First time losing a family member so close. Have lost people along the way that was a hard time to cope but losing a parent just hits so different.

My wife's father, a doctor, died three months after we married. That meant that we had to adjust to eventually helping take care of her mother and loss of an estate that would have eventually been established. Everything turned out okay.

My maternal grandmother. Dementia and cancer took her out. She was the best and always made me feel like I wasn't a waste of space
