I was 11 when my Great Aunt Hazel died. They took me to her funeral, and her sister, my Grandmother, was sitting behind us and she was saying, "It was a mercy!"

And suddenly I was FURIOUS! I stood up and said to everyone, "It was NOT a mercy!!! IT WAS NOT!!!!" And then I turned around and ran out of there.

My Aunt Hazel had polio as an adult...so she was confined to a wheelchair. I absolutely LOVED her. She was a wise cracker, and a character, and one of the funniest human beings I have ever met. She used to visit my Grandmother and they would play Cut Throat Scrabble...for BLOOD!

I wrote to her every month when she went to the nursing home, and when she died I FOUND my angry part.
