The TDS Afflicted: How dare Trump rename things as a petty response to a trade issue?

Also the TDS afflicted: Oooooh let's rename things to get back at Trump! That'll show 'em!

https://en.newsner.com/news/canadian-council-votes-to-rename-trump-avenue-and-taco-avenue-is-the-front-runner/

Ottawa City Council has voted to begin the process of renaming Trump Avenue, a residential street named 25 years ago, with “Taco Avenue” and “Obama Avenue” among the front-running replacement suggestions.

As tensions between the US and Canada continue to escalate, Ottawa’s city council has taken the first formal step toward renaming a suburban street called Trump Avenue.

In a unanimous vote this week, the council moved to start the process of renaming Trump Avenue, located in the capital’s Central Park neighborhood. The street has carried the name for about 25 years, part of a New York City-themed subdivision built around 2000 that also includes streets like Staten Way, Madison Park, and Gotham Private.

At least they took a vote on it!
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl Yeah the city council...not the citizens.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
Call it Karl Marx avenue or Trotsky street. They'd be honest then at least.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@Munumbis Avenue of Islam. Mohammed Street.

😉🤣🤣🤣

Canada is all bluster and socialist grandstanding . The US buys 73% of all
Canadian goods and is responsible for 78% of their cash flow. They insist on having a trade deficit , so Trump is about to show them the art of the deal.

This is so much fun to watch. It's almost like one of those "Reality..." shows. Sayyyyy... Didn't he used to do one of those?
i mean, if we wanna use that logic, Trump is deranged by Carney by changing Lake Ontario to Lake America. especially when Ontario predates both countries, and some American towns are even called Ontario too.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@legendaryssjgsskaiokenevolved It's not a logical response. It's an escalation. Escalating further is engaging in the same behavior Trump is, and again, I can't help but note the hypocrisy.

Where will this renaming end?

GerOttman · 70-79, M
@Nimbus Nah, that's Maxine Waters crack!!

@GerOttman Hold on, I'll just get my glasses.

Liberals are the same everywhere; crooks and hypocrites.

@Carla Who's Jimmy Martin?

Again, my point is as follows:

If you and other believe that Trump's renaming of Lake Ontario was "petty", then immediately deciding to rename something of his in retaliation would also be considered petty.

I ask, again, why if such things are petty and outrageous why do people engage in the same behavior and then complain mightily about Trump when he does it?
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster but the road isn't his. Ottawa obviously is choosing not to celebrate the man they see as tyrannical.
It would be petty if canada made the order to change lake huron to lake canada. N
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@Carla I don't agree. It's symbolic either way. If Trump's renaming of Lake Ottawa is petty, then so is removing his name from a street as an act of retaliation.

It’s not so much “how dare he rename things,” as it is, “why’s he wasting time renaming things instead of working on making things more affordable.” He cares more about his ego than about our pain.

We should call them the "Petty Nonsense Wars"...🤭🤭🤭
It’s so silly, they do this here as well, change names, leave the names, all this nonsense costs money, surely there are better things to spend money on?
tenente · 36-40, M
Is this city politicians flooding the zone with nonsense to deflect attention away from real issues(?)
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@tenente If you are implying that is what Trump is doing, and I am not saying I agree with that, then yes the city council is engaging in similar behavior, while also being outraged by that behavior.
tenente · 36-40, M
@SumKindaMunster Ya, it seems like city politicians are renaming things for "likes" and also to avoid real issues. But I do not know what happens in Canada and if that is a normal for city administrators. I bet it's an election year for the mayor in that city.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@tenente I remember when you used to be a fun and lighthearted person on here, and didn't take things so seriously.

Sadly, another victim afflicted with a scorching case of TDS.
