Should we stop treating Trump voters like Morons?

Compare and contrast these two links and think about it.

Maybe they both have a point.

Eventually they may have to be considered a "protected class".

At that point we will have to walk on egg shells and say things like, "Not that I have anything against trump supporters, I have a couple friends that are". They will have special pronouns. Allowed to marry. Employers won't be allowed to discriminate.

Eventually it will get out of hand and there will be "Trump supporter lives matter", they will be able to use the restroom of their choice, Trump pride parades, MAGA month, doing speeches in elementary schools..

BIG mess.
@LordShadowfire LOL. Not to mention reprehensible and basically proving they're right about Democracy being a farce.

@MistyCee Don't stoop to that idiot's level.
@ron122 Lol. That's really the predicament.

Is it worth trying to understand them (the more radical Trump supporters) on a technical, legal or analytical level? Are they confused rational Conservatives who will see the light when presented with facts? Are they complete idiots who have been duped?

The latter might have some truth, judging by SW, but there is an element of willfully going along with the Trump train because they want to. They want to believe the news sources that represent their worldview. There is an element of suspending disbelief like people do when engaging with entertainment. After all, Trump was (and still is) a reality TV star.

Trump also pisses off people they hate better than anyone else aive. He pisses off people like you and or me and has brash confidence that makes people feel stronger through him.
@Burnley123 Excellent points.

Actually they aren’t being called morons, they’re being catered to.

@MistyCee I understand I do 1/4 assed posts. I don’t open any links when I’m on here so I take your word for it all and trust you.

@MistyCee Problem is that their savior is out of office but they are getting out of hand.

I don't think people who voted for Trump are morons, but I do think the people on SW who support Trump are without a doubt among the dumbest human beings to ever touch a keyboard
Greyjedi · M
No, if they want to destroy their home and the home of their children and Grandchildren being treat as the moronic horde is the only thing they deserve.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
So sorry if it's not politically correct but people like Mikey the Pillow Biter Lindell, Lowrent Boozeburp and Margerine Trailer Queen can't be called anything but morons, it's just simply what they are, no two ways about it 🤪
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
If it looks like a moron, and acts like a moron, and quacks like a moron...
Ontheroad · M
Okay, I will. No more calling these idiots morons.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Stupid people are a waste of time.
I was impressed to say, perhaps there is something positive to learn from the MAGA cult but for the life of me I have no idea what that could possibly be. I simply avoid them altogether.
@Grateful4you lol

I think it is a cautionary tale.

Dissecting Trump's rise and putting it into the context of other Fascist/authoritarian rulers will occupy people for years.

We need to figure out how to effectively recognize & stop the rise of such persons...
@SomeMichGuy We already know the precursor behaviors and techniques used to effectively draw people in to cults via brainwashing. What we don't know is how to keep folks from falling under the spell of these charismatic but ethically malignant cult leaders.

Every generation since recorded time has witnessed the rise and fall of said "cultist" Just yesterday, I posted about a hospital administrator I worked with a very brilliant medical man, yet he said, "What happened in Nazi Germany could never happen in the US" I was livid and so taken aback at such blatant ignorance I couldn't speak.

Apparently there IS a percentage of the population that crave and actually (consciously or sub-conciously) seek out these dominant types as though by some need to be led by the nose and made into a slave who will follow without question.

My own opinion is somehow much of humanity actually believes we NEED to live in fear and be worshippers of some higher power. So much so that reason, a sense of self will, and the search for "soul" redemption has left many in s state of mental stupor and helplessness.

Its not nice to refer to them as Morons. And "Special" has fallen out of favour as well. "Intellectually Challenged", or "Differently abled" will do.😷
CestManan · 46-50, F
I wonder if being a hardcore Trump supporter could be classified as a psychological disorder?
@CestManan I think you are onto something in terms of how going "all in" on lies on top of lies backs you into a corner you simply cannot get out of in a face-saving way.

For people who chose to buy the Trump glasses...taking them off is hard.

I think dealing with the cognitive dissonance might well be akin to PTSD.

That's just spit-balling, but to keep believing the newest "Plan B" every time some big thing doesn't happen...

??
Unlike those oh-so intelligent Biden lovers! 🤣

@stratosranger That figure is intentionally misleading. It's using the most narrow definition of infrastructure possible to make it seem like the bill is a waste

Biden's plan includes $621 billion for transportation, $400 billion for homecare service, $300 billion for manufacturing and $180 billion for research and development.

Under their "traditional" definition of infrastructure, the GOP email limits what counts as infrastructure spending to include the $115 billion the plan allocates for modernizing highways, roads and main streets, $25 billion to airports and $17 billion for inland waterways, ports and ferries.

However, Biden's plan also calls for $85 billion to modernize public transit, $80 billion for Amtrak, $50 billion to safeguard critical infrastructure and $20 billion to improve road safety. The GOP email does not provide an explanation for why those investments are not considered part of infrastructure.

If we include the aforementioned $235 billion additional funding for transportation infrastructure, plus the $126 billion for building housing units, the $112 billion to build public schools and improve community college facilities, the $111 billion for water infrastructure, the $100 billion for digital infrastructure and the $100 billion for power infrastructure, infrastructure accounts for about 30% of the $2.65 trillion plan as announced by the White House.

The Republicans could have fairly argued that a majority of the funds aren't going directly to infrastructure projects but the 7% number relies on a the GOP's own narrow definition of infrastructure.
@TinyViolins I trust Forbe’s over any MSM garbage. It’s why I was able to retire at 50.
