Should Trump strike Iran? What should Trump do?

Should he do nothing? Iran is saying they will not negotiate their nuclear program under fire and Israel appears to be unwilling to cease their campaign. There appears to be an interest in getting rid of the regime.

What do you think Trump's decision will be?

First and foremost, I would say that I wish for the Iranian people to be able to live their lives in peace. Unfortunately, as a result of Israel, those people are no longer able to do that.

I think Trump has massive political incentive to make tactical strikes against Iran. For one, the Iranian government is openly hostile towards the US. Secondly, they are a strategic ally of China. Thirdly, even if Iran does not currently possess or are testing nukes, thanks to Netanyahu they now have every reason they need to develop them.

With a couple of well-coordinated strikes on military bases or nuclear testing sites, the US has the potential to wipe out a threat and topple an adversarial regime. He can claim credit for making the world a safer place and putting a dent into China's hegemony.

The downsides would be if he fails to hit the right targets or causes civilian casualties, it's going to needlessly escalate Iran's aggression and potentially harm US citizens and soldiers overseas.

Personally, I think for Trump, the reward outweighs the risk. He has been willing in the past to make strikes against the Iranian regime, and I highly doubt he's changed his attitude towards them in his second term. By him calling for unconditional surrender to the rest of the world, he will eventually justify his strikes against Iran as necessary since they chose to ignore him

@dale74 Honestly, I'm just in complete shock that your attention span couldn't even make it past the first sentence I wrote
Trump SHOULD get help. He's not equipped to deal with the consequences, and doesn't have the personnel to either.

I dont expect he will of course, and my guess is, as usual, he's trying to figure out a way to claim victory and blame others without actually trying to address the problems at hand for anyone but himself.

In this case, that may not be a bad thing and others may figure out a way to work around him or use him.

@MistyCee as opposed to biden's wife, son, or chief of staff?
@TexChik Hmm, off the top of my head, Jill Biden seems more adult than Hegseth, but you know that's not what I meant.

Let's call it Trump's "management style." I'm not a fan.
TexChik · F
@MistyCee What's in your head and 50 cents wouldn't buy a doughnut!! No concern on your part that an unelected and unqualified Kabal of libs was running the country ( into the ground) . 🙄.

Consent is already being manufactured for this conflict.

The U.S. has desired war with Iran for years. Trump does not want to get directly involved in a new war, but this is a chance for the U.S. to do what it has always wanted to do. We always support Israeli aggression, no matter what it's against. Trump is going to delay involvement as long as he can, but I think he will eventually decide on some kind of strikes.

The thing is, we supply Israel's military, so we're not "staying out of it" even if we're not directly involved. We just get Israel to do the dirty work--ultimately this is all serving our interests.

@sree251 Yes, many Americans want this. I don’t.

Want what? Speak clearly.

Trump is working for you. He is a public servant put in place by YOU to do YOUR bidding.

And should we pretend his campaign promises didn't exist??

March 25, 2023. Rally in Waco, Texas.

“And before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency, I will have the disastrous war between Russia and Ukraine settled.” ... “So when I say ‘end it,’ I’m going to get a settlement very quickly. And I know both people, and you can get it very, very quickly. You can only do it through the presidency, but you control the money coming in, coming out. You can get that. I will have that settlement done within 24 hours.”
-- Trump March 25, 2023. Rally in Waco, TX

“Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine totally settled. I’ll have it done in 24 hours. I say that, and I would do that. That’s easy compared to some of the things – I’d get that done in 24 hours. I know them both. I know them both. As the Bible says, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers.’ See that? And I will be your peacemaker. I was your peacemaker.”
-- Trump June 24, 2023. Speech to the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, DC.

I will have that war settled between Putin and Zelenskyy.
-- Trump at CNN's June 2024 debate

The war in Ukraine would be over, Trump promised at the debate, “before I take office on January 20th.”

When I’m back in the White House, we will expel the warmongers, the profiteers … and we will restore world peace.
-- Trump at the 2024 National Guard conference

My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier.

-- Trump's second inaugural address

Diplomacy with Iran is like arguing politics, you're never going to change anyone's mind and they will continue to do what they want. They want nuclear weapons and they want Israel destroyed just like every other country in the region. Israel, more than any country in the world is surrounded by people who want their destruction. No I don't plan on arguing about it, like I said no one will change their mind.

@SunshineGirl The jcpoa stated "For 10 years, uranium enrichment would be limited to a single facility using first-generation centrifuges"

That did not pan out, eh?
JSul3 · 70-79
@sunsporter1649 Have proof?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Unfortunately, since Trump single-handedly dismantled the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2018 and put nothing in its place, the scope for peaceful negotiation is now severely limited.

"Should he do nothing?"

Probably the least damaging option and he has had plenty of practice at that recently!
Kind of like the Biden admin telling us the border was being enforced. You’ve been duped. @ElwoodBlues
Kind of like the tRump admin telling us his tax cut would pay for itself; Kind of like the tRump admin promising $1 trillion on infrastructure; Kind of like the tRump admin saying they'd made the world safe from Kim Jong Un's missiles; Kind of like the tRump admin telling us coronavirus “is their new hoax!!”

Kind of like the tRump admin telling us he would lower grocery prices on day one and end the wars in Gaza and Ukraine in 24 hours. You’ve been duped, @jackjjackson.

Have you been nuked by NK smart guy? @ElwoodBlues

i dont really know whats going on but israel seems to be the bully in this matter and my first thought is that trump should try and negotiate peace between them. apparently israel sees them as a threat but only intuitively i feel liek iran is being unfairly targeted and maybe israel should leave them alone.
RedBaron · M
@Penny Maybe Iran and Israel should work it out between them.

Why does Trump need to get involved?

@Penny All I’m saying is if there’s a conflict between Iran and Israel, they should work it out or not between them.

Former US Allies Great Britain, France, and Germany were trying to negotiate with Iran.

Trump wanted to use Great Britain as the launching pad for the planes. GB told him "No!"

This is what happens when you destroy relationships with your Allies.

America First = America Alone.

In this case, Trump and Netanyahu Alone.

No. Trump should not strike Iran.

What he should do is remain nuetral, consult closely with Congress and foreign allies, review recommendations from credible leadership in the military and intelligence communities, and work diplomatically to stop the conflict and build a settlement that restores the terms in Joint Comprehensive Agreement.

He will do none of those things, because he is politically unfit and mentally incompetent to lead in any capacity. All the argument, scheming, misinformation propaganda, chaos, and denial of the last 149 days has been an orchestrated effort by corrupt forces both in and outside government to conceal that obvious fact.

American democracy - along with our prosperity and world influence - is running on fumes. Where "regime change" is needed most is right here.
emiliya · 22-25, F
@GuiltyBiStander The conservative judges appointed by Trump during his first term are why Roe v. Wade, a heinous ruling, was overturned in 2022. It was a 5-4 majority. Without the three conservative judges appointed by Trump, the Republican states would still be forced to permit baby-murder in the womb. This is another great thing you would not do. You probably like abortion.

If you think Iran can't bomb and kill any of our troops, think again

More than 40,000 American service members and civilians — as well as billions of dollars in military equipment — are in the Middle East, spread out across bases in Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

All are well within range of Iran's capabilities.

Iran isn't Iraq.
JSul3 · 70-79
@AthrillatheHunt Sure....just like Netanyahu and his targeted strikes in Gaza that kill innocent people.

Iran doesn't want a war, Israel does. If we don't get involved the problem solves itself cause without support from America Iran blows Israel off the map and they both know it.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Rolexeo it would be a long war with a lot of actors and in the end israel won't even make good beach front property.

In the end? Israel is done now. It is hated by everyone. It is no longer invincible and vulnerable to rocket attacks from anyone and everyone driven by hatred.

Trump should sell the bunker buster to Israel.. 10% off, free shipping..

And let israel do it themselves
JSul3 · 70-79
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout The point is that there is no guarantee that this big, beautiful, bunker buster will work.....and how many civilians may be killed.

Why not strive to get another JCPOA?
It was working just fine until Trump ended it and had no plan for a replacement agreement.
